hextri's Issues

Boustrophedon ordering

If the error to be diffused over nearby hexes puts any of the triangles below zero, the negative part is passed on to the subsequent hex in rendering order. At the moment, the subsequent hex for a hex on the right edge of the plot is on the left edge. If we switched rendering order to go left to right along one row then right to left along the next, the error diffusion would be more accurate. Slightly.

Hex Borders [adapting a new feature]

Hi Prof. Lumley,

I came across this plotting package which will be useful for a paper I am writing.
An addition I want to make to this plot is to highlight particular hex's as is shown in the accepted answer in this question:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/76685323/highlight-particular-hex-bins-with-geom-hex

As far as I can tell, there is no way to currently do this in hextri.

Do you have any ideas on how I could adapt hextri to do this?

My first thought was to plot a layer of hexagons ontop of a hextri plot where the borders could be manipulated, but I can't figure out how to reproduce the hexagonal patterning.

I think the hexagonal patterning comes from hexbin::hexbin, but I am not sure how to use the hexbin object to create a series of hexgon polygons.

Any pointers would be appreciated,

Sam
