I sent a message to Augusto Rando, maintainer of the Sourceforge project site of ImperiumAO and asked for clarification of the license status, existence of the sources and open source history of the game.

I got a fast reply "You can download the client source code. It's in the downloads section.", which probably means that the server code is proprietary. I also could not find the client code on the download page. I have asked for clarification of the location of the client's source code.

Another fast reply "Downloads are in sourceforge not the web." I guess that means that the source code is included in the 600 MB executables. I will ask again, just to be sure before starting the download.

I got another reply saying "We use ORE RPG engine. You can look at it here http://www.vbgore.com/Main_Page." which refers to an open source game engine. May this be the open source part of the whole project? Where are the sources of it? I downloaded the only available executable and could not find any source code.

I will ask one last time for clarification.

I got a final reply saying that "Yes, only the engine is open source." That means I will add the engine to the backlog and add Imperium AO itself to the rejected list.
