image_processing_tools's Introduction

Image processing tools

These are a few tools I have written as part of the course CS5420 in image processing. It uses the OpenCV library. OpenCV probably has more efficient implementations for many of these functions, but this is my attempt to learn the fundamentals.

Installation

Prerequisites

  • You will need to have OpenCV (2.4 or greater) installed. Doing so is beyond the scope of this document.
  • You will also need a C++ compiler (preferably G++) installed.
  • You need make installed

Installing

To install simply run:

make install

Using in your own code

To use this library in your own code you need to include the appropriate header files in your code.

#include <improctools/image.hpp>
#include <improctools/colorspace.hpp>

Note: per default these header files are installed at /usr/local/include/ so you need to make sure the compiler can access headers at this location, or change the installation directory to /usr/include instead.

To compile your code with the shared library:

g++ my_program.cpp -l improctools -l opencv_core -l opencv_core -l opencv_imgproc

Note: Similarly to before the library gets installed to /usr/local/include/. You need to make sure that the loader will search in this location .

You may not need all the opencv libraries, depending on what features you wish to use.

Documentation

Currently there is not complete API documentation. The function and parameter names are pretty self explanatory. For the moment the best way to resolve issues is to read the source.
