blocks-ti-84's Issues

Won't Run

Maybe i'm doing something wrong, but installed the library and the binary via connect Ce, and when I run via the program menu, it says ERROR: INVALID Attempted to use a variable or function where it is not valid. Help pls.

How to use it with Cemu

In the readme it's written that you have used Cemu, can you provide instructions for doing that?

Thoughts, Opinions and Ideas.

I will split this into two parts, my love for this port to the TI-84 and then some questions I have regarding its capability.

I absolutely love the way this is built. I love being able to mess around with the basic features of Minecraft and still have most the essential gameplay. I have already come really close to filling a full flat world with structures and stuff. However, now I have some questions regarding potential added capabilities that could be added.

Would it be theoretically possible to create an update that allows for angle changes?
I like the way that roller coaster tycoon classic solves this issue on the phone version. They allow you to click a little arrow to change/rotate the world screen by 90 degrees. So four rotations allows for a full "360" turning. I was wondering if such a future could be added to the calculator port by using the parentheses buttons "(" and ")" to turn left and right. I think that adding this future would allow for more building options as currently everything I build has to be open ended and also work to not over shadow the other things I build. While I am not sure that this would directly solve the problem, I do think it would help especially with getting the most out of the available space given. I know that the amount of code and spacing is limited, but I was thinking this might be a small enough change to be implemented.

I would also want to know if deleting or overriding save files is or could be implemented?
I have a world currently that is a standard file but I realized there is no current way to remove or restart a world. This would be a very nice future that would allow me to remove old files and start fresh.

Also, how would I be able to access the source code?
I am really interested in being able to see the way this was developed and how everything is built.

Is there a community forum for this project that already exists that I am unaware of?
I was looking for one but I couldn't find anything.

Thanks for your help!

invalid token

when i try to move the file onto the calc it says that the token invalid is

how do I start the program

I set it up and it is on my calculator but it just says "prgmBLOCKS" then when I click enter it says it is a syntax error. Please help

Won't run

I have the two libraries installed but it it says invalid library. Does anyone have the same problem or solution?

does not run

i downloaded everything and it says not enough memory i deleted every program and it still says that

Are larger block palettes possible?

I'll make an edit since I'm less sleepy.

I've only built a few things so far but this game is really fun once you get a hang of the controls. The only glaring issue I've found is the limited block palette. I know that the calculator this was designed for isn't that powerful but not having slabs is pretty rough. Stairs would be equally important but the game doesn't seem to store rotational data so that's fine enough. I think glass is also pretty important but I understand if it's not a fun time to port that into the game. I love this game and I plan to make more stuff and upload it online but the block palette does limit me.

Is there any way to add more blocks into the game? I'm loving it so far but having a slab, a stair and maybe wool would be extremely nice to have. Glass has been another thought as well. I guess I'd be going too far with more wood variety since iirc even classic didn't have that so it'd be fine to not have that.

I remember that you mentioned memory limits the whole time but if it's possible that'd be cool to know. If not then I'll consider making my own project. Thanks for making this, building stuff and uploading it to YouTube is quite fun.

Bad token

I've never had this issue before but I cant get to code to upload to my calculator. TI-84 Plus CE MacOS.

Some suggestions to help make building easier

The isometric view tends to make it hard to tell where things are on the height axis, and holes surrounded by the same block make it look like the hole is filled. I’ve got a few ideas to help remedy that!

  1. Add a coordinate overlay in the upper left corner that can be toggled by pressing the zoom key (get it, because alpha+zoom is F3) to help tell where the cursor is.
  2. Make the cursor turn red when the space it is on is occupied by a block.
  3. Add a “grid mode” where the textures of every block are outlined in black to make it easier to see where blocks end and begin.

I think these ideas would basically make this game perfect! It’s already really impressive and playable for the TI-84.
