I don't know if this is the right place to put this but...

I love jumpcut and the one feature I would love is if there was an option to save 5 or 10 "clips" permanently. I would love to be able to have certain things always at my disposal, like my address, an email adress, a tracking number. The possibilities are endless

Or can you let me know how can I replace the icon on the menu bar? I want the flycut icon. But I just want it in black and white.

Ideally, it'd provide a link to a more recent version, but even just a warning that the Apple Store version is stale and you should build your own would be great.

Building my own was easy, once @MarkJerde pointed out that that would solve #61.

I am using a Dvorak keyboard, where the V key is mapped to K. Oddly, Flycut seems not be aware of the keymap, and therefore sends cmd-K instead of cmd-V. It does not paste, but instead it performs the cmd-K action, depending on the application.
Jumpcut seemed to work otherwise, it worked independently from the keymap.
What do you think of implementing Jumpcut strategy for pasting? Maybe it was less efficient?

not always, but once it starts I can't seem to get it to stop. if I have "foo" in my clipboard history (not in 1st postion) and try to paste it, it will paste "foofoo"

restarting app or clearing history does not help.

I've had an issue where the preference were not preserved if Flycut was quit and then launched again. All the preferences went back to defaults.

It may be tied to the Clippings Save option. I had it set to "Never". I recently changed it to "On Exit" and then my preferences were preserved.

I then tried changing it back to "Never" and all the settings were preserved except the Clippings Save option, which went back to "On Exit". The same was true for "After each clip". That setting would stay, but "Never" would not.

An option to blacklist apps would be cool, like 1password.

I want a shortkey that clears all the history (Clear All button in the drop down menu). Or a Preference to set this up.

I want to work on this when I have time. But not in near future ;)

I have just started using Flycut and so far like the program very well, but I would like to keep some of the entries long term as I use them over and over and some of them I would never use again. It seems that the only option is to Clear All of the entries. Is there not a way to right click or highlight entries that you don't want any longer and send them to the trash bin or delete them?

When I copy one entry it is save to dropbox correctly.
But when I then hit Shit+cmd+v on an other Mac it is not sowing the last item.
When close and open Flycut on this Mac the item is shown.

thanks for this really useful tool. Although I have an issue or maybe more a feature request.

I use KeePassX (www.keepassx.org/) for storing my passwords. For security reasons, it removes the password from the clipboard after a specified time.

When using Flycut all these passwords are now stored as plain text in the Flycut history. I would really like to exclude certain applications from being part of the history. Is there an easy way to achieve this?

Currently, if Flycut is set to keep the last 5 items, and my queue looks like

a
b
c
d
e

and I copy a new item, f, it will push e out of queue, leaving

f
a
b
c
d

If I then select item 5 (d) and paste it somewhere, I'd like it to go back to the head of the queue, leaving

d
f
a
b
c

Basically, if I'm using an item in the clipboard queue more frequently, I don't want it to get churned out by items that I've pasted less frequently.

Expected behavior:

1. Type in a "New Message" Mail window on second monitor
2. Use Flycut's keyboard shortcut to pull up my clipboard history and paste text from one of the items
3. The selected text is pasted into my "New Message" mail window

Actual behavior

After I select an entry from the list, the entry still retains its earlier position. So even if I repeatedly select the particular entry, it could still go down the list as and when I make new selections and later disappear. Would it be possible to provide an option such that if I select an entry, it is moved up the list.

This way all frequently selected items remain in the list even if I don't use it for a while. It also helps in the usability that the next time I want to select an item it is available at the top so that I don't have to scroll down much in the drop down menu.

This is a nice issue to have ;):

I love Flycut. It's a great tool, useful, stylish, simple and clean. And the fact that it's open source makes it even more delightful.
But I feel utterly bad not being able to reward you for your great work, since it actually saves me time and therefore money every single day. If you are determined to keep the app free in the Mac App Store, please add at least some kind of donation button to the Github page, maybe Flattr.

Anyhow, keep on the nice work!

Please update & charge for all these extra GitHub future feature suggestions to this app!!! There hasn't been an update for over 3 years. No matter what PLEASE fix "Bug Issue #36".

Once I get to n of n items, I can't cycle forward or backward to get to 1 of n items... Or at least it's not apparent to me how to.

For instance:

Clipped pattern 1 aaaaa , 2 bbbbb , 3 ccccc , 4 bbbbb

So with this feature just last 4 bbbbb will be recorded, so stack will looks like

4 bbbbb
3 ccccc
1 aaaaa

I absolutely LOVE this app, so first off a big thank you from me to you.

Now the one thing I would really love to see is when the bezel is up you have to use the arrow keys to scroll through your previous cuts. I would like to see something in the preferences that enables the scroll wheel to cycle through the bezel cuts if the Bezel is active.

I think this is a very simple suggestion that would really take this to the next level!

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open preferences
2. Ensure sync to Dropbox is enabled
3. Make changes
4. Exit preferences
5. Quit Flycut
6. Restart Flycut
7. Open preferences
8. See if changes are kept.

Also, how does Flycut know where to store its preferences on Dropbox?

flycut is awesome thanks for you work.

I still miss one feature that would be great.

With one addional short key I want to blend in my complete history of all cuts over the complete screen, they can have just the beginning but its enough to see each string. Then since I see everything in one shot I can select it with the mouse much faster. I would think of 15 pasties blended in it can be in small fonts as well to show all history. It is the same as you see in the dropdown at the topbar but I want it in the same transparent layout as the usual paste as well.

I think this would be the last feature to make it perfect to me.

Is anyone else experiencing this. If I use a shortcut key (any key - tried multiple) pressing that causes two copies of the text to be pasted.

Seems to not happen if "sticky bezel" option is on (I would anyways have it always on - doesn't even have to be an option imho).

Using OS X 10.8.2

When trying to paste from flycut to a windows vm running inside parallels, the client receives "v" instead of the real value.

The work around is to delete the superfluous "v" and then use the mac's CMD-V to paste again as it would now be in the mac clipboard.

Ideally it would be nice if we could paste straight from flycut into the client VM

This happens always with the hotkey and "bezel" selection, and with the menu if "selection pastes" is set it preferences.

It clears the terminal screen, and doesn't paste the clipboard contents. Both of which are frustrating. Thanks.

As user I'd like to be able to clean-up text formatting, and paste just plain text with separate shortcut..

Scenario: as user I pressed hotkey so I can see window with previous clipped text, I started typing text pattern and now I can scroll by arrow key just through the clips that contains typed pattern.

Just noticed there's a cask for Jumpcut (see Homebrew/homebrew-cask#56) but not Flycut, which is better! As Flycut's maintainer, would you be interested in maintaining brew's official formula or cask?

Echoing some others' requests for a new menu bar icon, and being quite handy with Photoshop, I decided to make my own.
Also, while I was at it, I whipped up a new application icon to match, to replace the free/stock icon that's currently being used.

I've made icons for all sizes, including icons for retina displays.

The new version of flycut randomly decided to start automatically using the first entry when you press the hotkey without me pressing Enter -- how do I get around that?

In Mavericks, when using multiple monitors, flycut will always paste your text on the first monitor, even when you're working on the second monitor.

The settings of the app reset to default after any restart.

Under "Appearance" tab of the app preferences, it would be very handy if there was a "Show Icon in Menu Bar" checkbox option allowing users to un-check and disable the icon.

For some reason, the bezel suddenly stopped staying open. Shift-command-V opens it ok, but then it closes before I can scroll to the clip I want.

Not sure why this suddenly started happening. The only thing I've changed is installing the patches Apple put out for the Flashback trojan, but I don't think the two are related.

Anybody else experiencing this issue?

Love the simplicity of this app vs the other clipboard manager out there which are way over designed. Only thing that is missing is that anything but the most recent clip is stripped of all formatting. Is there a way to save this information?

Awesome software, I use Flycut on my mac every day, it's a lifesaver. I tend to use the clipboard history quite heavily while developing websites and have always though that Flycut would benefit from some kind of plain text log or similar showing clipboard history with date/time stamps.

A log could be automatically cleared on a specified schedule and it would save trying to track down clipboard items that might have been buried due to the remember limit.

Is it possible to make a constant line in menu? Can be named as FAVORITE. User can put their own information to FAVORITE line in preference.
What do u think?

Simply copying a request from a Mac App Store commentor:

The app would be 10 times better if the bezel was autohided and the selected clip is copied to the clipboard (or pasted) after lefting[sic] fingers off the hotkey!

Shouldn't it import those settings if they exist or at least give the option?

I love the current dropbox feature; to copy code from one work mac to another work mac, I tend to make sure only one copy is using it, since dropbox does versioning rather than append new clipboard content. Would there be a way to run it at the same time on multiple computers and make a sort of cloud clipboard? Maybe with iCloud or dropbox? I'm a rather new developer in the java web-app world, and have yet the opportunity to learn MacOSX and iOS programming (don't even know Objective-C). Thanks!!

Can we have text size in the preferences? That is, the display when you paste things is a fixed size, but for my eyes I would like to make it bigger.

Jumpcut's text is centered in the bezel view. Here in Flycut, the text is always aligned left.

Would it be possible to have a short cut to mimic the behavior when the Flycut Icon in the upper bar is clicked. I am not a big fan of the bezel as it displays only one entry. I would like to see the entire list so that I can see what I am looking for. It would be difficult to keep track of the position on the entry in the list and I tend to have around 100 entries.

This again is a usability thing where I have to use the mouse every time I need to search/select an entry.

PS: I realize that I am looking for a replacement for klipper (kde) in mac and currently flycut is the best possible candidate. I really love the product and would love to see the changes that I suggested.

Could you use github releases to provide .app directly ?

I wonder what prerequisites you need to build Flycut? Some specific settings I should have? I cloned the repo and opened it in xcode, but it would not compile.

Is there any way to build it from the console? Some kind of make-script?

I'd much rather install it via homebrew and build it than having to register at the AppStore. Maybe have the latest version compiled and available here on github?

I have always use jumpcut but I'm now trying your version. I suggest something to jumpcut but I had no returns. Perhaps could you listen to my suggestion.
I have to paste same texte (several in fact) throughout the day in case of my work. I think I could save my time if there are a part of flycut where I could define my own text independently of the clipboard. I will consequently paste some text with another shortcut than the principal one. That second clipboard will not be modified when I copy a new text like that I know that the text "exemple" is in the 13 position and I'he just to apperal this 13 position to copy the good text.
I wish I was clear in my explication. I apologze for my bad english, I'm a french user.
