fedicat's Issues

multiple overlapping sign-in screens

It's easy to tap on the login button multiple types and thus bring up multiple authorization screens at the same time (still works, you just need to hit authorize on one).

view endorsements

The app can endorse (pin) accounts but doesn't show them on profiles.

add a map

I don't know for what, but there was one time Apple was really pushing people to add Apple maps into their apps and since then I've had a superstitious feeling that it will help get my apps approved (and stay approved).

share target

This app doesn't present itself as a share target, when linking a web page for example. Ideally would be like MetaText which, unlike most of the other Mastodon apps, includes some extrated summary text.

post composition screens don't always dismiss

After composing a post, e.g. in the New Post screen, then hitting send, the screen should disappear and return back to the main feed screen, but this often does not happen. There is typically a pause while the progress indicator displays but it should be no more than a few seconds.

previous draft not always cleared

related to the issue of the post composition screen not disappearing upon completion, the draft contents remain on that screen when composing a new post. This is useful if you just want to return to a draft in progress but otherwise requires manually clearing the draft contents.

improve text detection

the current text detection for post image attachments uses the built-in Apple Vision library so it's convenient (also the same as the one used by MetaText) and avoids a lengthy server request like the Mastodon web ui, but sometimes it doesn't do a good job, maybe there's something better?

draft management

currently the notion of a draft post is implicit, in that's what is displayed in the draft composition screen, but it should be made explicit so you, e.g. load a draft, revert to a draft, manage multiple drafts....

text-only option

the mastodon api has various media-only options for feeds but personally I'd like to see a text-only option (nostalgic for the blackberry days). aside from removing clutter (meme gifs and stock photos) it could be useful for those in low bandwidth environments.

submenus are unresponsive

It is difficult to get the submenus, e.g. Account, in the main menu to appear. They often flicker off immediately. I've found the sweet spot is a bit left of the icon.

notification alerts

You can view and pull-to-refresh notifications but there are no alerts or badges

some hashtags not in bold

Some hashtags are not in bold are only partly bold while the markdown delimiters ** seem to be wrapped around an empty string

clear draft button

There should be a quick way, probably a button, to clear a current draft. With a confirmation of course.

group notifications

space would be saved by aggregating similar notifications, e.g. boosts of the same post. See Ice Cubes for example.

post menu is unresponsive

I often have to tap several times for the post menu (rightmost ... button on the bottom of the post)

multiple progress indicators

In some areas (e.g. a profile screen) multiple progress indicators will appear. Should be just one (technicallly makes sense since there are multiple requests going on, but unsightly)

diffs of past versions

currently can see past versions via the inspect option but better would be able to see diffs

edit scheduled post does not show attachments

You can edit a scheduled post but it doesn't show any previously attached attachments. It might still actually work but this means there's no way to remove attachments when editing.

create account

There is currently no interface to create an account, just logging into an existing account.

sign-in instance list

There is a very short list of instances to log into. You can type in anything, but it's handy to tap on a comprehensive menu.

translate posts

Posts have a language label (often wrong, but still...) so it'd be nice to have a language translation feature.

cancelled on refresh

Often a pull-down refresh results in a "cancelled" popup error message, particularly notifications.

lack of encryption warning

The Mastodon web client displalys a warning about lack of encryption if you set a message to private. Maybe we should do that.

media-only option

Some of the feed apis include a media-only option (you may notice on other apps, particularly in profile feeds) which we're not using right now.
