snapdrop's Issues

Future of this project?

Hi @tanujnotes,

I have a similar but more advanced open source project already running a bit longer since October last year (but added to the playstore some months later).
See https://github.com/fm-sys/snapdrop-android

This is also the android app, which is listed in the official Snapdrop FAQ.
https://github.com/RobinLinus/snapdrop/blob/master/docs/faq.md#third-party-apps

From time to time, I receive bug reports from your app in my repository.
e.g. fm-sys/snapdrop-android#72

Furthermore, there are is quite some activity (bug reports and PR's) happening in my repo and the issues listed in your README are solved/not happening in my app. E.g. I don't use an explicit MIME type mapping, like it is done in your app.

As this repo doesn't seem to be much maintained, so I would like to kindly ask you if you would be willing to take your "Snapdrop | Share it" out of the playstore?

Please don't get me wrong, I don't want to destroy your work. However, the fact that two apps exist for one and the same use case is kind of confusing for users.

I think it would be much easier, if we cooperate (if you still have time for this project at all?) in development. You are welcome to contribute to my repo if you find time! ;-)

Please let me know what you think about my idea.

With kind regards
Florian

Discovery doesn't work while Google Fi VPN is enabled

Greetings!

Thanks for making the wonderful Snapdrop Android app. I believe this is the right repository, looks like there's a few Android flavors of this, but I found this from the Github link in the app.

I've attached a screen recording of the issue:
https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/819991/135183093-7ade4279-d9ca-45f0-b430-a4213f66fd1b.mov

I have a Pixel 4, on Google Fi, with the VPN enabled, and a MacBook Pro 13 Big Sur.

Steps to recreate the issue:

  1. Ensure Google Fi VPN is enabled
  2. Open Snapdrop.net or Chrome App
  3. Open Snapdrop Android App
  4. No devices show up on either side
  5. Kill apps on macbook and android
  6. Disable VPN on Google Fi
  7. Open Apps
  8. Devices nearby are discovered

Let me know if you need more information!

Crash

Android 14
App crash on a finished downloaded file and doesn't save it on storage I think this is permissions related. app asks for no permissions
also crashes when clicking that file icon top left, still don't know what that is I'd assume file picker?
