I'm still trying to figure out how to best handle authentication and how it intersects with multiple ways of doing something. For example, I can issue console commands vis TN3270 consoles, HMC API, z/OSMF, ZOAU, zOWE, and others I'm not thinking of right now. But there are other things that I may only be able to do through the HMC API (certain type of system changes), or z/OSMF (probably easiest way to interact with RMF) or so on. So I may need to provide multiple sets of credentials to things. But if I've provided credentials to the HMC API and to z/OSMF and to a TN3270 console, when I'm issuing system commands, how do I decide which one to use? And what if I gave HMC API credentials, but I don't have authority to issue system commands?
