TagSpaces v5.0.5 from appimage
Linux Mint latest (Vanessa21 < Ubuntu Jammy) with Mate Desktop, fully up to date with Linux kernel 5.15.0-xx
Reproducable: 100%
Actions to reproduce: Click a file. Click a tag and select edit. Change your mind. Entire app window goes white and unresponsive. Only way to recover is restarting the app.
Wrong place for issue. Can be deleted.
Can't I delete my own comments by myself?!
Or, if I may suggest... Consider letting us leverage our external applications more strongly but making "double click" a first class citizen
If Tagspaces just showed previews of media, and left everything else to simply launch in external apps of our choice, i'd personally be thrilled and probably stop using my OS file browser so much..
So yeah, you can just ignore this feature request if you plan to make it smoother to use external apps. I appreciate all the effort to bring so many file types into Tagspaces, but it might be a losing fight, as you'll never have the resources to handle the file types as well as purpose built programs, while trying to please everyone's goofy app preferences is also a sucker's game. Send us out to our favorite file handler apps on double click and you'll never hear us complain again. ;-)
TagSpaces v5.0.5 from appimage
Linux Mint latest (Vanessa21 < Ubuntu Jammy) with Mate Desktop, fully up to date with Linux kernel 5.15.0-xx
Reproducable: 100%
Actions to reproduce: Go into a folder, and click the folder name to edit it. A hook is missing to have the hierarchical folder list update the folder name. When you click the old folder name it predictably is not happy about the fact that it no longer exists.
To recover you need to navigate far away and then back to force it to refresh. F5 "refresh" doesn't seem to be a thing in the app so I find myself often running away and back to trick folders to update. Consider adding "refresh" as a standard feature. ;-) I noticed files can be refreshed, would be nice to do this with folders also.

In the Markdown version, the tables are in incomplete HTML and the image references/paths include extra characters and leave the images blank. This produces an incomplete page in the Tagspaces documentation site.
Normally I would just fork and edit, but I was unsure if the page should remain in Markdown, to be rendered by the Tagspaces web site, or should be in html.
I am trying to figure out how to use tagspaces. I can't read the docs here https://docs.tagspaces.org/ because the non-scrolling sidebar triggers my migraines.
Yes, I know it's a standard web design practice... I can't escape it.
I tried a variety of configurations, was not able to get it to work. The ability seems rather clearly there. If someone can tell me in general how to do it using the following, I'll be most happy to write it up formally in TagSpaces docs.
Space Settings:
xyzpdqabc
in xyzpdqabc / https://xyz.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com
It works fine in s3cmd, but I don't know how to translate that to TagSpaces' configuration fields.
I am using the lite version 3.10.2 and I added some tags to some files and went to search by those tags and nothing is coming up.
I have tried re-indexing, creating new tags and creating new files. Nothing seems to work.
I'm using this fine app to organize a ton of family photos. I manage tag groups in the left panel, I love this program! Good job guys.
Then I accidentally labeled about 100 photos "Collorado" with two L's. No sweat, i'll just do what i used to do in Digikam and replace the tag. No feature. I edited it to the correct spelling.
To my horror, I realized I'd have to manually go edit every single old tag by either clicking, deleting and confirming, and then re-dragging the correct one, or clicking, editing, deleting an L, and then saving.... Either way it took 10 extremely unpleasant minutes to fix my error.
Am I an idiot and overlooking some replace mechanism? Or is it not existing yet? The app has no drop down menu for functions or commands, so I don't know where any power widgets might hide... It's as easy to use as a smart phone app, but it's also sadly at least in this way, just as limited...
I'd recommend a switch called "Update all tags everywhere" when in the tag editing dialog. Then it's similar in logic to the tag group "apply color" switch.
Thanks!
hi~
Many people like me use teracopy or other copy managers to copy/move/verify files.
if a file.doc and file.doc.sidecar is in the SAME folder, I can sort the file manager by filename,
then I can easily pick each PAIR of files for operation.
tagspaces NOW put the sidecar file into another .ts folder, makes this IMPOSSIBLE.
I understand the .ts folder is established, but put in SAME folder is more reasonable.
so what I ask is ADD a choice to put sidecar file in same folder.
Some people, who have special interest, may continue to use the .ts folders.
thank you.

TagSpaces v5.0.5 from appimage
Linux Mint latest (Vanessa21 < Ubuntu Jammy) with Mate Desktop, fully up to date with Linux kernel 5.15.0-xx
Reproducable: 100%
Actions to reproduce: Try to press CTL+1, 2 or 3. Despite what the key mapping say under settings, Only CTL+2 works. I remapped to ALT+ to see if it was a hot-key conflict, same results. I tried various other key mappings, and well, they don't seem to be hooked up.
Workaround: I work slower and move my hand to the mouse to go clickety click a lot. First world problems. :) But would be cool if key mappings worked. I often am switching between folder view to navigate the hierarchy and tags view to get work done.

Is the instruction for the Portable Version Outdated ?
I havent found any tsprofile Folder so far.

Hi.
I created a location with the android version, using the file picker to select the location. I wasn't able to add notes or perform operations on the files. So I went to edit the location, and the filepath was shown in file:/// notation. When I changed this to match the default locations (sdcard/XXX) it seemed to solve the problem. I have also had a similar problem trying to move files using the file/folder picker. I am running on a Samsung device with Android 11. Please let me know if you need any further information.
Thanks!
Escape doesn't seem to escape much of anything at the moment. Would be awesome if it closed the preview window. I often prefer to see more thumbnails and get rid of the preview when tagging and working, but currently without this escape binding to close the preview I'm slowing down to grab my mouse and aim it at the upper right X all the time.
Arrow keys don't allow navigating through files or folders. Even if I click an item, i can't move. Makes it really slow and mouse intensive. Backspace key goes up a folder. And Enter goes down. Feels like a bug that arrows don't work...
Oh yes, Linux Mint, Appimage, etcetera. And I promise I'm done spamming for a while. These are all the bugs and issues I encountered after my first day using the software. Otherwise I love it and will keep using it, thanks! When I get far enough along in my tagging work to need the geo-location feature, I'll pony up some cash at your site to help support.
All the best,

Linux Mint latest (Vanessa21 < Ubuntu Jammy) with Mate Desktop, fully up to date with Linux kernel 5.15.0-xx
Reproducable: 100%
Actions to reproduce: Install the .deb on this version of linux. When you run it - boom. Crash. Appimage runs okay however, at least as well as Appimages ever can. (They're a bit klunky to set up.)
Observation: I have an Nvidia graphics chip on this 12 month old bleeding edge thinkpad with the proprietary Nvidia drivers, which work quite all for 99% of all apps and games. However about a year ago when this laptop was fresh from box, I had a few apps that caused the same issue. However, between OS updates, Nvidia updates, and app updates, it stopped happening. Not sure who fixed the bugs but they got hammered out as it's quite a severe one....
Hello! Thank you for this amazing tool. I've been looking for something like this for so long and I'm considering upgrading to pro version.
I just have a minor issue, but one that, if solved, can improve the experience a lot.
So my issue is that I have a folder with a lot of sub-folders. Each sub-folder contains files that I want to tag. When I go inside a sub-folder and go back to the parent folder, the scroll goes back to the top.
So what would be amazing is if the scroll is kept at the same position when coming back to a parent folder. And even more amazing would be to have the last visited folder highlighted in some way. That's how it works for example in Windows file explorer.
Thanks a lot!
