This project includes a multi-tier web application designed for scalability and security, utilizing a suite of AWS services. The application, envisioned as a dynamic blogging platform, was architected to efficiently handle varying loads with an emphasis on high availability and robust security measures.
The core architecture of the application was strategically designed to separate concerns, allowing for independent scaling and development of each layer. The web application layer was built using Django, a Python framework known for its simplicity and versatility. This choice facilitated rapid development and easy integration with various AWS services.
For the database, I opted for Amazon RDS with a PostgreSQL engine, aiming for transactional integrity and the relational features needed for the blogging platform. The static content, including images and style sheets, was served through Amazon S3, coupled with Amazon CloudFront for global content delivery, ensuring low latency and high transfer speeds worldwide.
- Amazon EC2: Utilized for hosting the application servers, with an Auto Scaling group configured to adjust the number of instances based on demand, ensuring the application remains responsive under varying loads.
- Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL): Chosen for its robustness, scalability, and support for complex queries essential for the blogging platform's dynamic content.
- Amazon S3 & CloudFront: Integrated for storing and efficiently distributing static content globally, enhancing the user experience with faster load times.
- AWS Elastic Load Balancer (ELB): Employed to distribute incoming traffic across multiple EC2 instances, enhancing the fault tolerance and scalability of the application.
- AWS Lambda and API Gateway: Used for creating serverless backend functions that handle user authentication and post submission, allowing for seamless scaling and reduced operational overhead.
- Amazon Route 53: Managed DNS services, improving the application's accessibility and reliability.
- AWS IAM: Implemented to ensure fine-grained access control, securing sensitive operations and data against unauthorized access.
- AWS CloudFormation: Leveraged to automate the provisioning of the entire infrastructure, enabling consistent deployments and infrastructure version control.
