House Budgeting Web App using PHP and MySQL

Introduction:

The House Budgeting Web App is a web-based application that helps users to manage their household budgets effectively. This project was developed as a group academic project.

Objective:

The primary objective of this project is to develop a web-based application that will help users to manage their household budgets effectively. The application will provide users with the ability to track their expenses, set budgets, and monitor their spending habits.

Features:

The House Budgeting Web App includes the following features:

  1. Multiple Users Accessing Same Device with Different Data: Users can create an account and login to the web app from any device. The app will allow multiple users to access the same device with different data, making it easier for families to manage their budgets together.

  2. Displaying a List of Purchases and their Dates: The app will allow users to input their purchases and their dates, which will be displayed in a list format. Users can filter the list based on date, purchase type, or other criteria.

  3. Displaying Total Remaining, Consumed, and Original Budget: The app will provide users with a summary of their total remaining, consumed, and original budget. This will help users to track their spending and adjust their budgets accordingly.

  4. Modifying Budget from Settings: Users can modify their budget from the settings menu. The app will allow users to set their budget limits and alert them when they are close to reaching their limits.

  5. Storing Net Budget of Last 6 Months: The app will store the net budget of the last 6 months, allowing users to track their spending habits over time. Users can use this data to adjust their budgets and improve their spending habits.

  6. Recommendation on Lowering Expenses Considering a Specific Purchase: The app will provide recommendations on how to lower expenses based on a specific purchase.

Technology Stack:

The App was implemented using the following technology stack:

• PHP: The backend of the application was developed using PHP, since it provides excellent support for MySQL databases.

• MySQL: The database of the application was developed using MySQL, since it’s fast, reliable and a RDBMS, making it an ideal choice for web-based applications.

• HTML/CSS/Bootstrap: The frontend of the application was developed using HTML, CSS & Bootstrap, which are the standard for building web pages.

• JavaScript: The application used JavaScript to provide dynamic features and interactivity.

Conclusion:

The House Budgeting Web App is a useful tool for anyone who wants to manage their household budgets effectively. With its user-friendly interface and powerful features, the app will help users to track their expenses, set budgets, and monitor their spending habits. This project was developed as a group academic project, demonstrating the team's skills in web development and database management.
