404 Not Found Redirect UserScript

This UserScript detects "404 Not Found" (and similar) errors on webpages and redirects to an archived copy on the Wayback Machine, if available.

Installation

Install a userscript manager extension like Tampermonkey or Greasymonkey on your web browser.

Once you have a userscript manager installed just click this link: install

Notice:

Do not post an issue for because the UserScript is redirecting you to the Wayback Machine, even though the website is fully functioning and is not giving an error. It is almost certainly not the UserScript's fault. It is very likely the website is simply giving a 404 http error status to the UserScript, even though this is inaccurate. This is a mistake on the website's part, just exclude the site from the UserScript so it does not execute on the page.

Refused to connect to 'https://web.archive.org/wayback/available?url=https://github.com/' because it violates the following Content Security Policy directive: "connect-src 'self'

When the UserScript tries to make a fetch request to web.archive.org to check for an available archive of the site, sometimes the connect-src directive of the Content-Security-Policy of a website can block that.

Example: https://github.com/404errortesting

When the UserScript makes a fetch request to https://web.archive.org, it gets an error because the website blocks it:
