data-curators's Introduction

Earthquake-Curators

The repo is for curators in the earthquake prediction project.

  • Uncompress, extract, and parse the data into a pandas time-series data format
  • The curated data will contain columns of variables for analyzers to analyze

Goal for Tuesday (2013-11-05):

  • Work on a selected problem in a group of 2-5 people, either across horizontals or amongst the analyzers
  • Communicate with other horizontal groups in terms of passing along information

data-curators's Issues

CSV is now a viable option.

Too, initially, I thought Google DOcs was the best transmitting format, but I have determined that Google is forcing limitations on amount of storable data, therefore the CSV method is the only possible alternative, I am able to export it, so the analyzers just have the read in the CSV.

It was my mistake, but it has been corrected.

How can I get pull from github to my VM?

I cloned data-curators repo in my Virtual Machine, after that I want get update that repo. So I did git pull in my VM under data-curators director, there is new file in my director but when I open the ipython notebook, there is no file. why??
Anyone can help? Thank you!

CSV too large to send to Github

To all,
Since the CSV file was deemed too big to attempt to push to Github, we will be attempting to put it in a Google Spreadsheet for the Analyzers to work on. If there are any issues, please let us know now

Better documentation in readme

Hey everyone, I think it would be a good idea to update the readme with some notes about which data sets people should actually be using. I have heard from other groups that all the stuff we have up in our repo is confusing.
Is the correct one found in dropbox?
@tristantao or anyone else?

Sample Output from Data Curators

This may be useful for visualizers and analyzers.
I found this page on the SCEC website that details the less obvious variables. These variables may or may not be useful for the models we are doing.
