SparkFun Photon RedBoard

SparkFun Photon RedBoard

SparkFun Photon RedBoard (DEV-13321)

The SparkFun Photon RedBoard is a Particle Cloud-compatible WiFi development board. It can be programmed over-the-air, using Particle's Build IDE. It's like a Photon, but Arduino-shaped and red!

photon_redboard's Issues

GND plane under Photon Module

I think this module would reflow better if the top GND polygon under the module were reduced and/or moved away from the pads as much as possible.

Right now I see the chance for a lot of heat being synced in that area.

Again, I'm okay with this portion of the design staying the way it is for the sake of experimentation during protos, your call.

Ideas/potential issues

-I'm assuming that the RGB LED is intended to be more or less "user programmable" for it's uses/notifications. --- However, if it is used by the Firmware, and has a dedicated/non-changing function, it might be cool to add a key in the silk.

-Might be nice to add a small Tsilk dot for polarity that is outside the RGB Component footprint.

v20 Revision issues

only two small ones:

(1) DRC errors need to be checked and approved

(2) Do we need a re-visor's name in the design files. The revision changes are very slight, so I don't think it's necessary, but I thought it worth mentioning

Lower right standoff clearance

I'm worried that if someone populated a connector on the JP3 header that the may not be able to use this stand-off.

Up to you if you want to fix it

Photon Module Routing

Some of the routing on this module scares me a little from a DFM/reflow standpoint.

I'm okay leaving the routing as is for the proto just to see what happens.

I circled the areas that I think may cause issue in the pic below.
