landingpage's Issues

Fix contributors section

It appear that my username in that section is still Stylix58, even after changing of username a long time ago.

Needed Improvements

  • General:

    • this looks disgusting, either remove the border and replace the background with a greyish color or fill it with the same color the border is in
      image
  • Design inconsistencies:

    • either put all elements in the center or push the ul to the end of the navbar (accounting for margin on both sides)
      image

    • make Fosscord is a header
      image

    • colors do not match (picture and page)
      image

    • remove padding/margin around the ul
      image

    • navbar background on scroll does not match our ui frameworks design dogma (too dark)
      image

  • Boring design choices:

    • nothing in the background, looks boring
      image

    • not the right place for that, replace it with a footer containing links
      image

Navbar issues on mobile

The navbar toggle to collapse and expand the navbar content in the mobile view stops working after using one of the links included in it. This behaviour can be temporarily fixed by reloading the page.

New section: Scalable

We believe in creating a future proof project that is able to handle many thousand concurrent users. That's why Fosscord is built to be scalable from the ground up.

Misleading features

Why include sections on features which just don't exist and only state that at the bottom of the paragraph? It's misleading if someone was to just read the titles and seems disingenuous.

Suggestion to add "Still under development" or something similiar to the header on the landing page

I learnt about fosscord from a reddit post which gave a link to this website (which said nothing about this being a work in progress by the way). I clicked "Open web client" and attempted to log in. I even tried creating an account. None of that worked.

Only after visiting the Github repo page I understood that this is still a work in progress. There is no indication on the landing page about this being a work in progress. This feels a bit confusing or misleading.

How about adding a "Still under development" or "Work in progress" or something similar to the header of this website? You can also add a hyperlink to Fosscord's Twitter handle saying "Get notified when it releases" or something similiar.

Rewrite using React

Because in every repo we use React, we should rewrite the website to a React-based framework, like Next.js or Gatsby.

Website rewrite

I should think I can start the making of a website for Fosscord.
