Unfortunately, it does seem like this issue can be fixed. You can install a script (post-checkout) into .get/hooks, but that is pointless because anything that is stored insode the .git folder is not tracked and therefore not part of the repo. To be honest, because of this characteristic, what on earth is the point of having a post checkout hook if that hook is not part of the tracked content. You would still need to manually do something, like remember to run a script after you have cloned the repo. The whole point of trying to set this up is to invoke some functionality, ie install the pre-commit hooks automatically after the clone has occurred.

I hope I am missing something here and that this is achievable. More research is required.
