leaflet.awesome-markers's Issues

Help maintaining?

Folks, good afternoon!

I got the ownership of this package for the same reasons, a few yeas ago. There were bugfixes and evolutions that the original creator was not being able to make them.

So I contacted Github and inherit it.

This was a time when I:

  1. Had a team of developers working with me
  2. Had a company that used several packages like this one on a daily basis

So it was easier to maintain. Today I have none of these things and time to contribute to open-source is getting scarce.

Does anyone want to take ownership of the package ?

npm package

Do you think you could publish this package to npm registry? Unfortunately it looks like it would like a bit of overhead with each release, but not that much.

Thanks for keeping this plugin alive!

Feature Request: Additional Text Below Icon

For our project, we have a requirement to be able to add some additional text to the marker below the icon, e.g.:

image

This will be used to represent locations with more than one meaning, in the case of the mock-up e.g. 'Coffee and one other offer'.

The API could look like this:

var redMarker = L.AwesomeMarkers.icon({
    icon: 'coffee',
    markerColor: 'darkblue',
    text: '+1'
});

Is that something you would like to see as part of the library? If so, I will happily implement and merge it.

hex colors for marker backgrounds

I noticed that you introduced square icons to your fork, something that wasn't available in the original version. However, it seems like both versions have the same limitation in number of colors being limited due to the fact that markers are rendered from sprites. This limitation, however, does not exist for the foreground icons, which use fonts.

What if instead of using sprites, the library would define the background marker as a font as well (currently with 2 marker types: round and square) and render it behind behind the foreground icon via css? That way the user can use any of the 16 million available colors for the background.

Retina

I know it says they are "Retina proof'. But do they actually work on Retina or other high res screens?

As far as I can tell the icons are cropped to the top left corner and colors are wrong because the offset in the image file is only travelling half the distance it should.

Icone indefinido em requisições ajax

Utilizo a lib num projeto e quando faço uma requisição ajax, na primeira requisição funciona, na segunda diz que o icone é indefinido e não carrega os markers na tela, poderiam me ajudar?
