stream-overlay

A stream overlay service to provide interactivity during our Extra Life game day events

Get started

node.js required and grab some Yarn
yarn
Create your .env file (see below)
yarn start Or yarn start:dev -- this will run the server with Nodemon watching
Navigate to http://localhost:3000/

ENV file

A .env file is required at the root of this project in order to know what team it is tracking.

Required entries

TEAM_ID={your team number here}

Optional entries

Default values are presented below

DEBUG=false - prevents outputs debugging messages to console
LIVE=true - Extra Life API calls execute against website instead of samples
POLL_DELAY=60000 - how often the service polls for changes

Extra Life unites thousands of players around the world in a 24-hour fundraising and gaming marathon to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

extra-life-stream-overlay's Issues

Client.js is out of date for data properties in api.

With the using of the new API from Extra life the data properties used in client.js now referencing the incorrect properties.

Update FavIcon

FavIcon is out of date. Update to use new logo.

Implement extra-life-api package

API URLs have changed since this was built. Pull in the extra-life-api module and implement.

Update API Calls

Existing overlay has old api calls. Update to new call listed on their website.

Bundler is causing a broken overlay

With the updates to dependences, the yarn bundle produces a broken min file. This builds, but the ejs does not properly get replaced with the data.

I assume this has to do with changes in express 🤷‍♂

Using a old branch before the updates will allow you to create a working min file.

Implement new SN colors and logo

UI used is out of date based on the new SN logo and colors. Update to use the following color values

#410099
#872ff7
#93d500
