Hi there,
First off, thank you for creating this Webpack plugin. I found this after you posted to my Webpack issue. I tried it out and it mostly works, but I found a problem with it that deserves reporting.
The problem is that for production, the modules are called in a different order from development mode, which produces unexpected results. In my case, it caused babel-polyfill
to be imported too late, after react
.
So the modules that these ids resolve to are very different from the ones in development mode.

The fix that I found was to use the HashedModuleIdsPlugin. This produces a stable call order for both dev and prod modes.
First off, thanks for the geat plugin! It saved me from having to dig into webpack's innards.
I noticed you switched from filtering by m.id
to m.identifier()
in cb703a7.
I don't pretend to understand the exact difference in the change, but I did want to call out that m.identifier()
can get pretty difficult to work with in some cases.
For example, here's a dump of m.identifier()
, taken at random:
/Users/smitc2/Sites/example/node_modules/babel-loader/lib/index.js??ref--6!/Users/smitc2/Sites/example/node_modules/@bolt/components-icons/src/icons/twitter.js
I'm not sure if this is a result of how we're using babel, but I wanted to call out that comparing by m.resource
seems to be easier to work with:
/Users/smitc2/Sites/example/node_modules/@bolt/components-icons/src/icons/twitter.js
As a non-breaking change, I'm suggesting that another option filter
be added, in addition to the existing execute
option. This would allow implementations to do more sophisticated filtering on module, eg.:
new ExecutableDllPlugin({
filter: m => {
return [path.resolve(__dirname, './src/A.js')].includes(m.resource)
}
})
