sn-vs-projecttemplates's Introduction

Welcome to sensenet

sensenet is a content repository with API first approach packed with a full featured permission system, preview and collaboration tools.

Join the chat at https://gitter.im/SenseNet/sensenet

A basic setup of sensenet has three top-level parts:

  • A content repository that is the storage and service layer
  • An application that uses the content of the connected content repository through API calls
  • A sensenet admin surface (only in SNaaS) that helps you carry out common content management tasks

SNaaS architecture

Everything is content

Content is the basic block for storing information in sensenet. A content can be any kind of data, user, document, workspace, memo, task, and more. Using content items everywhere unlocks a great deal of exceptional features, making your experience as a user more seamless, and your job as a developer a lot easier.

Licensing

In this model, sensenet content repositories live in our cloud infrastructure.

  • no installation required (easy onboarding)
  • patches and upgrades are taken care of by us
  • no hosting related tasks

sn-vs-projecttemplates's Issues

Asp.Net Core web app template

Add a new Asp.Net Core project template containing the following configuration:

  • install files for installing SN locally
  • docker support

Packages to import manually

  • Lucene29.Local
  • EFCSecurityStore
  • System.Runtime.Caching (?)

Known issues

  • Lucene29 local index path must be configured manually, currently there is know built-in mechanism for finding the current working directory.

Use Secret Manager to store dev secrets

Web app templates require sensitive data:

  • connection strings
  • client secrets for Identity Server

Use Secret Manager to store and manage these values so that we do not have to set them locally during development.

  • project templates repository on github
  • snaas repository in tfs

My Application not starting after I added "base.Application_Start(sender, e, application);"

I have installed all the necessary sensenet packages and followed all steps in the read me file, still my application doesn't start or no exception is returned. It simply went infinite loading without returning the console back to the next line after base.Application_Start(sender, e, application);

Below is my code for global.asax

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.Mvc;
using System.Web.Optimization;
using System.Web.Routing;

namespace SensenetDemoApplication
{
    public class MvcApplication : SenseNet.Portal.SenseNetGlobal
    {
        protected override void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e, HttpApplication application)
        {
            base.Application_Start(sender, e, application);

            AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas();
            FilterConfig.RegisterGlobalFilters(GlobalFilters.Filters);
            RouteConfig.RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes);
            BundleConfig.RegisterBundles(BundleTable.Bundles);
        }
    }
}
