ytmysubs's Issues

Question: Why redirect explicit "home" link? (And not hide it)

I use the extension because subscriptions is a better home for youtube, but I explicitly want to view YTs sometimes useful often not suggestion page (home), I don't have that option without disabling the extension. In this situation, the "home" link is more than redundant. It could be at least hidden.

But I see that the "home" link is simply youtube.com. There isn't a "youtube.com/home" for the Home link to redirected to.

Manifest V3 support (or lack thereof)

On December 4th, 2023 I received the below e-mail communication from Google:

E-mail with a Google logo at the top. It reads: Dear Developer, You still have one or more published extensions currently running on Manifest Version 2, which has been deprecated. We recently announced the updated phase-out timeline of Manifest V2, and your item(s) will be impacted by these changes. More specifically, if you have not migrated to Manifest V3 by June 2024, your Manifest V2 extension may begin to be disabled on Chrome browsers and the relevant item will lose its Featured badge in the Chrome Web Store if it currently has one. Organizations using the ExtensionManifestV2Availability enterprise policy will continue to be able to run Manifest V2 extensions until June 2025. We recommend completing the migration of your extensions to Manifest V3 before June 2024. Please consult the migration guide for help getting started, and if you have any questions, please reach out via our support channels. Thank you for your cooperation and participation in the Chrome extension ecosystem. - The Google Chrome Web Store team

Unfortunately my views of an open web do not align with Google's vision and in protest I am refusing to update any of my extensions to support Manifest V3 on the Chrome Web Store. If you are currently using this extension, expect it to become unavailable and/or non-functional in Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers (Vivaldi, Opera, Edge, Brave, etc.) in June 2024.

Personally, I have fully switched to Firefox and never looked back, I suggest you do the same. The extension has a Firefox version which will continue to be maintained for the foreseeable future, you can find it in the README.

Sidebar/Masthead logo now redirects to the home page

Looks like youtube changed something, although it's possible it was firefox, I'm using nightly. I wonder if you're able to get around this new behaviour?

I've been rather enjoying never seeing the home page, so thanks :)

Compactify the subs

Make it such that the Subs look like the recommendations in regards to layout.
The last space it wastes, the more we can see.

grid vs list feed

Hi, thanks for the extension, and a shame it's required in the first place...

Recently, youtube made a new UI change, and with it, the subscription feed at https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions now defaults to a grid. It seems that the only way to get a tile view is to click the button:

image

which will navigate to https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions?flow=2. This also means that the add-on always redirects to the grid list. How difficult would it be to add an option to the add-on to choose between defaulting to https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions with or without ?flow=2?

Back button navigation broken when going to home page

Due to the new method of simulating navigation introduced as a fix for #11 the history entry for the home page stays in place, thus preventing back button navigation as visiting the homepage re-redirects to the subscriptions page.

Need to find a way to skip the history entry entirely or remove it after the fact

Broken miniplayer

If you open a video from your subs page or a playlist or similar, you can click the miniplayer icon, and the video page shrinks and the previous page is shown; the subs page or playlist or whatever....

But if you click a link to youtube, then click the miniplayer icon, there's no 'previous' page, so it uses the youtube home page as the background for the miniplayer. At this point, the plugin takes over, redirects to the subs page, and the video in the miniplayer closes.

Not sure if this is avoidable in practical terms, but reporting nonetheless. Thanks for an awesome addon mate.

Doesn't work on mobile (Firefox for Android)

This plugin is a godsend! It helps me with all the clickbait on youtube, which was making go crazy Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work on Firefox for Android (yet, i hope), mayb it has something to do with the URL? (m.youtube.com).

If you could fix that, we could also safely browse youtube on Android mobiles :)

Thx!
