A good Book reading tool with a couple of cool features

I have an initial idea of having a tool with at least the following features. We can find if there is any open source project that can help us or do we need to develop it from scratch. Feel free to add anything which you also like to have in a good book reading tool.

  1. I can take notes on each specific line or even a word
    1. That note should be visible to me in some way (hidden initially)
  2. I can hover over a word and see if there are any thoughts of other people on it
    1. There are two tabs, one is the thoughts given by the Ulama
    2. Other is the public thoughts on it.
  3. I can bookmark a specific page/chapter or even line of a book
  4. Highlighter to highlight a text / removing the highlight
  5. Zoom in and out features on a page
  6. Changing the way of rendering the page navigation
  7. I can see the scanned copy of each page to compare it with the original text
  8. I can change the available languages of the books
  9. I can Change the view mode from Dual (original text and translation) to Just translation or just original text
  10. I can give feedback on each page/line/word if they are wrong or even on the translations
  11. I can have a Copy feature that might include some additional metadata that will help the user copy it effectively

A transparent way of reviewing all of the texts which are being uploaded

To ensure data integrity we need to have some concrete plan for how we will review our uploaded text.

I have planned to keep all of the text on GitHub initially in text format in a separate repository to keep a record instead of uploading it somewhere in the private cloud. GitHub already gives us quite a lot of tools for reviewing written content. We don't need to reinvent the wheel altogether.

Following are some points regarding the review process

  1. Every line of text must be reviewed at least once by the writer and once by the co-writer of the original text
  2. He must upload a clear scanned photo of each page along with the text he is writing

Feel free to add your thoughts on it.

Each book must have general information about it

As actual data is the most sensitive and crucial part. We have to make sure that users are 100% sure about the content they are reading or using. For that purpose, we have to give all possible metadata of a book. Feel free to break down the points or add new points.

  1. How it was created when it uploaded first and updated later
  2. Scanned book upload
  3. Additional details about the translation sources
  4. Available translations
