I am very rusty with Arduino, but the biggest issue with this (otherwise great value) hardware is the manual interface sucks. A reviewer on Amazon /u/PilotJC has also noticed this and mentions it in a popular review. /u/ mentions that this gives granular control over the thousands place.

I have seen the hundreths place done on old scopes such that you hold down a button, and rotating the encoder (maybe actually a pot its so old?) results in ~10x slower change. This is used to do 'fine' adjustment. A simple combination of two knobs/encoders and a button or two could be used to emulate this behavior, with 10x or 100x slower change! Some arduino thing with a queue to register/process the inputs and send the corresponding voltage would emulate this behavior. Great intermediate arduino hardware project! Probably super easy for seasoned electronics maker veteran, but I put all my time into battery charging software. Will consider laser cutting/3D printing housing for free! Crowdfund anyone? :D

This is a known bug with the original library made by Richard. I read somewhere on some amazon review of a similar product that there is a \n being sent when it should be a \ n (with a space) and every programmer ever sees the \ and n in a protocol and assumes \n but is in fact incorrect. I have not investigated this as I usually shut off my PSU when done controlling it.

Push the sampling rate and see what can be squeezed out of this lib.

When it fails, it leaves the supply at the last setpoint, and in remote mode as issue #2. This will leave the battery charging until a power cycle (albeit at a really low rate).
