I used Home Assistant in 2018 and then migrated to Apple Home.
I started using Home Assistant again in 2022. Now, it has grown significantly, with a total of 1500 entities.
After the new sections dashboard was released, I moved my configuration from YAML to the UI. My ui-lovelace.yaml is generated by the Readme custom component. Now, I use the sections view as my primary and only dashboard.
I wouldn't recommend putting too much effort into the dashboard from now on, as I believe voice control with LLM is superior. Invest your precious time only in overview visualization.
It provides KNX and DALI devices to Matter fabric with Matter bridge. It helps me to keep my switches and lights always wired and handle simple automations even when Home Assistant is dead.
It's connected over both Z2M or ZHA. Super stable and can monitor power usage. Up to 16A. Very cheap, slim profile, less than $10 in Aliexpress. Recommend this if you use Zigbee.
Power monitoring often doesn't work after Matter 1.3. Up to 11A. I don't recommend this for now.
Voice Control
I want to use local voice control with a local LLM. I'm planning to buy an Nvidia Jetson AGX Thor when it's released. Until then, I'll use OpenAI Conversation with GPT-4o. GPT-4o is the only viable option for now, especially for non-English conversations.
Generally more acceptable performance than ESP32-S3 based models. But not in aesthetics. I'm waiting for official voice hardware. I'm mainly using Rpi 02w and Jabra410 with CY95's wonderful work.
Security
I'm now using the Frigate add-on with a Google Coral TPU for object detection. It can handle more than 10 FHD streams, detect motion, and recognize objects.
This custom component for Home Assistant will add crucial features to your climate-controlling TRV (Thermostatic Radiator Valves) to save you the work of creating automations to make it smart. It combines a room-temperature sensor, window/door sensors, weather forecasts, or an ambient temperature probe to decide when it should call for heat and automatically calibrate your TRVs to fix the imprecise measurements taken in the radiator's vicinity.
iCloud3 v3 - iCloud3 is an advanced iDevice tracker that uses Apple iCloud account and HA Companion App data for presence detection and location based automations.
LinkPlay based media devices integration for Home Assistant. Supports multiroom, Media Browser, and snapshot and restore functionality for TTS. Compatible with Mini Media Player card.
Home Assistant custom component for scraping (html, xml or json) multiple values (from a single HTTP request) with a separate sensor/attribute for each value. Support for (login) form-submit functionality.

Home Assistant Add-Ons
I use Home Assistant as my main home server, so there are lots of add-ons. I could run Home Assistant as a VM on a dedicated VM server, but I prefer to keep things simple.
An upgraded Energy Distribution Card for Home Assistant, with added features like Individual Devices and refined UI enhancements, while maintaining the Energy Dashboard's original design.
Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Fire streaming stick, Chromecast, NVIDIA Shield, onn., Roku, Xiaomi Mi, and Android TV remote control card for Home Assistant
Bring new life to Home Assistant. By mapping entities to a SVG-object, you're able to control devices, show states, calling services - and much more. Add custom styling on top, to visualize whatever you can think of. Your imagination just became the new limit.
Dual colors vector icons for Home Assistant. These icons are dual color counter fit of other home assistant icons set like Material Design Icons (MDI) or hass-hue-icons.
Honeycomb menu is a Home Assistant module (not a card) that can be applied to any lovelace card. When activated by the defined action on said card, the module will display a 'rounded' list of honeycomb buttons with an optional XY pad to make interfacing with lovelace more fluent
🎨 Give your Home Assistant a modern and clean facelift. 🟥🟧🟩🟦🟪 24 Variations with 2 Styles + 6 Colors (Magenta Red / Orange / Green / Blue / Purple) + 🌞 Light and 🌚 Dark modes included. Based on Metro and Fluent UI Design Systems from Microsoft Windows.
Which is weird, I felt this device is much preferrable than bulb. It was more stable, and has less connectivity issue. But I have converted to DALI CCT, so it's now retired.
