site's Introduction

GNU LINUX INDIA WEBSITE - gnulinuxindia.sh

Welcome to the "GLI", as we endeavor to bring you a new and improved version of our community's activities in the past.

Since some time we have been feeling that things could be better, so we decided to move to GitHub, which has proven itself to be familiar to more people, and worthy of higher value in employment options.

Our plans for the year involve multiple tasks, including weekly/monthly contests, group projects, self-hosting (if funding is found), talks, webinars, meetups, etc. We aim to make the community more active, engaging, and beneficial for our members in terms of job opportunities, growth, and learning.

Thank you all for being part of GLI, we are excited about this new chapter! Let's work together to achieve success and inspire others with our knowledge.

The website is built using the Astro framework.

๐Ÿš€ Project Structure

Inside of your Astro project, you'll see the following folders and files:

โ”œโ”€โ”€ public/
โ”œโ”€โ”€ src/
โ”‚ย ย  โ”œโ”€โ”€ components/
โ”‚ย ย  โ”œโ”€โ”€ content/
โ”‚ย ย  โ”œโ”€โ”€ layouts/
โ”‚ย ย  โ””โ”€โ”€ pages/
โ”œโ”€โ”€ astro.config.mjs
โ”œโ”€โ”€ README.md
โ”œโ”€โ”€ package.json
โ””โ”€โ”€ tsconfig.json

Astro looks for .astro or .md files in the src/pages/ directory. Each page is exposed as a route based on its file name.

There's nothing special about src/components/, but that's where we like to put any Astro/React/Vue/Svelte/Preact components.

The src/content/ directory contains "collections" of related Markdown and MDX documents. Use getCollection() to retrieve posts from src/content/blog/, and type-check your frontmatter using an optional schema. See Astro's Content Collections docs to learn more.

Any static assets, like images, can be placed in the public/ directory.

๐Ÿงž Commands

All commands are run from the root of the project, from a terminal:

Command Action
npm install Installs dependencies
npm run dev Starts local dev server at localhost:4321
npm run build Build your production site to ./dist/
npm run preview Preview your build locally, before deploying
npm run astro ... Run CLI commands like astro add, astro check
npm run astro -- --help Get help using the Astro CLI
