temporarytabcontainer's Issues

Can't open "no container"

Hi @sagitta1618 ,

I can't open tabs in "no Container" option. Way to reproduce:

  1. Nightly latest version, clean install, untouched
  2. Install TabTemporaryContainer => restart browser (just in case)
  1. Open tabs in temporary containers => Open tab menu context => Reopen in Container => No Container
  2. Current behavior: The new tab always opens in temporary container
  3. The desired behavior: The new tab should open in "No Container"

Thank you and Big hug! : )

Request: Auto-delete temporary containers per session

Hi @sagitta1618 , it's been a while since past February, here I'm again, today please with a new request.

The problem is that your add-on (sometimes) doesn't delete temporary containers.
I can see same temporary containers accumulating and accumulating over the time, and your add-on is opening temporary containers over these same undeleted temporary containers.

I'm using your add-on with this other add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabs-to-bookmark-groups/
I'm not an expert, but from my ignorance, I don't believe TabsToBookmarkGroups add-on is the culprit, because it works well with other temporary containers.

Anyway, please my request is very simple:

  1. During same browser session, always keep same temporary container, until a new tab is opened with same url or different url.

  2. When browser session is finished and browser closes, all temporary containers are deleted. Every new browser session should have zero saved temporary containers. By the way, that's the meaning of "temporary"... it'll be alive, until browser closes.

Hope you can do it! It'll be fantastic.
I still prefer your add-on over the others, because your add-on is lightweight and works very nice for me.
Thousand thanks to you in advance!

Big hug! : )

Pinned tabs with containers

Hi @sagitta1618 !

I believe I found a new issue: Pinned tabs with temporary containers, when browser restarts, these pinned tabs become unpinned. Way to reproduce:

  • FF' Nightly clean install latest version.
  • Install TabContainer and restart browser.
  • Open several tabs in temporary containers and pin them. Close browser.
  • Restart browser: You will see pinned tabs jumping and becoming unpinned.

Big hug! : )

Conflict with UltimaDark add-on

Hi @sagitta1618 ,

I found a conflict between your TabTemporaryContainer and UltimaDark: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ultimadark/

In previous versions of UltimaDark, tabs weren't opened at once, a double "enter" was needed (pressing "enter" twice).
Latest version today V1.2.8 solved the "double enter", but if your add-on is enabled (when UltimaDark is enabled too), then lot of pages are broken, or Ultimadark doesn't work and pages are not darkened.

Perhaps the problem has nothing to with your add-on! But please, if you can take a look, I'll appreciate.
I already opened an issue at UltimaDark, and the Dev is aware. But he has a lot of work on his own add-on, which demands endless hours of adjustments in order to work fine in thousand of webpages. In short, he's terrible busy.
So if you can give a hand founding the culprit of this conflict, it'll be great.

Thanks in advance and big hug! : )

Can someone help me ?

I installed the extension in the normal version of FF 56.0 without Nightly but I want to know if the temporary containers created are infinite, after making 3 containers created the next 4 I can't make temporary access to the site anymore, with the following message on the blank prohibited page.
And as if it didn't work right, because I can access the site 3 times with a normal guide without any TC installed

Can someone help me ?

Middle-mouse support + foreground tabs

Hey,

I prefer this lightweight approach to the bloated temporary containers add-on. However I constantly forget to use the add-on specific context menu item.

How could I hook this add-on to work on middle-clicks on links? Also I have enabled foreground tabs on Firefox settings, but the context menu item still opens only background tabs. Could there be an option for foreground tabs or checking if it is enabled in settings?

Why is 'all sites' permission necessary?

I was looking at this extension and another one that basically does the same thing. I would imagine any extension that can actually open temporary containers has sufficient permissions to do what this extension does. I may be wrong. Could you please describe how come another extension can open the clicked url in a temporary container without requiring ANY permissions but this one doesn't? Is there an extra feature I am not seeing?

Small issue: Some tabs are not opened in temporary containers

Hi @sagitta1618 !

I found a small issue (while using TabsToBoomakGroups - TTBG add-on). As title says, sometimes in specific situations, some tabs are not opened in temporary containers (TC). Way to reproduce the issue:

  1. Install TTBG => Go to about:add-ons + TTBG’ options check “Unload inactive tabs” => Restart.
  2. Create a tab group (let's say Group01) with (let's say) 5 tabs.
  3. Ensure these 5 tabs are fully loaded => Restart.
  4. At Group01 and from the 5 tabs, randomly load 3 tabs. If the issue appears, then these 3 tabs are going to be opened without TC. But if the issue doesn't appear and these 3 tabs are opened in TC, then again ensure these 3 tabs are fully loaded => Restart => Open these (same) 3 tabs, and you will see the issue, these 3 tabs are going to be open without TC.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

  • Even without TC, If you duplicate these 3 tabs, then they will open in TC.
  • If you open the other 2 tabs, they always will open in TC (if these 2 tabs really were unloaded on previous browser session).
  • If you create a Group02 and you go back to Group01, when you reopen these same 3 tabs (in Group01), now they will open in TC.

From my ignorance, apparently TC can't be opened on last loaded tabs, until these tabs are duplicated, or unloaded (discarded) and loaded (reopened) again. By "last loaded tabs" I mean "loaded tabs in previous browser session".

Thank you in advance and have a nice weekend! : )

Two tabs open for "Always Open This Site in..."

Great add-on for Firefox, especially after the sad news about Temporary Containers.

The only issue that I'm having it that when I open a website, that has a default container set, in a new tab (middle-mouse click or ALT+ENTER), two tabs are opened. Both these new tabs are for the same container.

The work-around is to simply not use the middle mouse button or ALT+ENTER, but then the new tab doesn't appear at the end of all the open tabs but next to the current tab. Not a big inconvenience, but figured I would comment here for others to find the workaround (and hope for a fix).

Now off to retrain my muscle memory ;)

tab bar shaking when reopening tab from previous session

when the session restore is checked, and the browser start, each time a tab will be loaded, that will shake the tab bar.
Possible fix:

  • detect the create tab event and do the conversion to TC then (not sure it is fired on restored tab)
  • detect the tab index and order the tab after loading them all (just for the start)

[not an issue] Very simple request

Hi @sagitta1618 ,

Firstly, thank you for your TabContainer.

Please, I have a very simple request: Can you change the label of your add-on? I mean the "priv9-". It'll be nicer if you change it, for example, to "TC" (temporary container). So, it'll appear as TC01, TC02, TC03... TC9999.

I believe "TC" + XXXX (number) is more than enough.
And it's more clean, minimalist, avoiding distractions and visual pollution.

If you're not going to change it, please, can you teach me how to change it with CSS?
I was able to eliminate the icon using "#userContext-indicator { display: none !important }". But I have no idea how to change the ugly "priv9-".

Thank you in advance!
