Sagara, an Identity and Integration Architect with over 15 years of industry expertise. With 8 years at WSO2 in various roles, including Architect and Product Manager, he then joined IntegrationWorks NZ as a Principal Integration Consultant in 2019 before rejoining WSO2 in 2022. Currently based in Auckland, NZ, Sagara serves as a Director of Solutions Architecture for WSO2 ANZ, focusing on presales, customer engagement, and community enablement in the region.

At IntegrationWorks NZ, Sagara led the development of a cutting-edge iPaaS solution using cloud-native and open-source tech. Additionally, he advised key clients on Integration and Customer Identity strategies.

Previously, Sagara served as Architect & Product Manager for WSO2 Identity Server, leading product roadmap definition and development. WSO2 Identity Server earned recognition as a Leader by KuppingerCole and a Top Strong Performer by Forrester. Earlier, he held similar roles for WSO2 Governance Registry and WSO2 Application Server. Sagara also contributed to the design and implementation of the Microservice development framework MSF4J. He led numerous on-site customer engagements for WSO2 globally, serving Fortune 100/500 companies.

Sagara has presented at various international conferences such as European Identity & Cloud Conference, Consumer Identity World events, GDPR Summit, ApacheCon, and WSO2 Summit and Con events globally. He has authored numerous articles and technical papers on Integration, Identity, RESTful design, and Microservices for publications like WSO2, Industry Index, PCMag, and DZone.

Apart from his day job, Sagara has been an open-source advocate and a PMC Member & Committer at the Apache Software Foundation for more than a decade. He has contributed significantly to Apache Axis2 and Apache WebServices projects, to Apache Synapse, Apache Camel projects. In 2012, Sagara was elected as the VP of the Apache WebServices project and served until 2017. He was also a member of Kantara User-Managed Access (UMA 2.0) working group and contributed implementing KantaraConsent Receipt Specification at WSO2 and also presented in Kantara panel discussions. After moving to New Zealand, he spoke on Microservice Security Meetups in Auckland and Wellington.
