emoji-everywhere's Introduction

Emoji Everywhere

No Maintenance Intended Firefox now supports color emoji on every OS so this addon is not necessary anymore.

Convert unicode emoji to images on all webpages

License

This addon is released under the GPL 3 license.

It also relies heavily on the Twemoji library, which is released under the MIT license.

emoji-everywhere's Issues

Open source?

This file data/components/twemoji/twemoji.min.js that actually processes the HTML DOM cannot be found within this repository. I understand that it is from here. However, I do not understand why it is found here. I've checked their license and it is released under the MIT license. That said, it only requires attribution/(mention of the copyright notice and this permission notice). Usually, Copyright (c) <year> <copyright holders> is enough.

I am not sure, but is this project under GPL?
Is there a confilct between these licenses?

Extension signing required as of Firefox 43

Hello !

First off, thanks for your development on this extension.

I write this issue to warn you that, as of Firefox 43, extensions are required to be signed in order to be installed.

Actually, Firefox won't let users install the extension from addons.mozilla.org and for now the only way to bypass this is to disable signature enforcement and install from the XPI available here.

But, in Firefox 48 (coming out August 2nd), signature enforcement won't be overridable.

Source and documentation

Some Emojis not rendered, show as numeric block.

Currently using Firefox 47.0.1 in Windows 7 Pro 64bit. This add-on does show many emojis; however, I have stumbled on a number it doesn't render. One is this crab emoji (also a high voltage emoji that does work:

This is a crab: ๐Ÿฆ€
This is a lighting bolt: โšก๏ธ

Here's a screen shot: http://i.imgur.com/AgjhlYz.png

I picked the crab from here: http://emojikeyboard.org/

Anyway, is there a method for getting these to show that display as a number block?

Thanks,

emoji not being converted to images

  1. If emoji is inside a frame NO conversion is performed.
  2. If emoji is within a DIV and DIV is not visible then no conversion is done. Refresh will display with visible div conversion done. Making div hidden and visible again results in conversion lost.

update only seems to be done on page load and skips non-visible items.

Running on Linux, have not tested on Windows.

How to remove/disable?

Old version does not show under extensions and cannot be disabled/removed...
New version still seems active even when disabled, but think old is still active.

Switch to turn on/off would be most desirable, or and exclude page option.

In mean time how to I remove old version short of removing ALL extensions and re-installing all but?

Emoji characters not always change into images

Awesome addon overall, but after installing it, emojis in YouTube comments did not change into images for me.

Video titles are even more interesting, as sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

Here in GitHub comments I also still see only characters: ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™

Although on http://getemoji.com/ everything works great. (Except for Unicode 9.0)

My Firefox version was 47.0.1, I just got an update to 48.0.2 but problem persists.
