Removing video conversion

Le problem

The Picamera is recording to a circular buffer and when saved, it saves as a h264 file, when omxplayer cannot play I think (must check). So currently the video has to be converted into two mp4 files, normal speed and half speed (which I may be able to get rid of one and just play the second video slower?). However, as fast as ffmpeg is, converting a video into two videos is going to take a bit of time, which annoying

The fix?

Would it be possible to find something that could play h264 files, AND quit when the video ends, if not normally has the option to and is fast to open etc.
