windows-alt-tab's Issues

Needs to be re-enabled at each login?

Each time I login, the behaviour goes to the old state - Alt - tab shows all running applications. After re-enabling the addon in gnome-tweak-tool it starts working fine again - till the next time i log in.

Maintain window aspect ratio in preview mode

When set to display the window previews, the thumbnail shouldn't be stretched to fit a 1:1 aspect ratio.

The "Window Size" setting should only affect the longest side of the thumbnail, and the other one should auto fit, just like Alt+` works now.

GNOME 3.8 support

This extension doesn't seem to work for GNOME 3.8. I've tried the "simple" thing and just added the version number to the prefs.js file, which enables it, but the behavior of alt-tab is not modified.

mouseclicking Windows from same 'group' not working

When hitting alt-tab to get the list of open windows, it is not possible to switch to a window in the same group by mouseclick.
Using mousewheel, alt-tab-tab-tab etc. everything works fine. But just clicking not (when it is in the same group).

reproduce: open evolution an start writing a new email.
without this extension evolution would have 2 windows in the same 'evolution-group'.
I think this 'grouping' is the problem, because when in evolution i can just mouseclick e.g. to switch to firefox when hitting alt-tab before.

"Bring to front" messes up the window order

I really love the "Bring to front" feature, but unfortunately it breaks the window order that makes quickly switching between two windows impossible.

With the option turned on, it seems Mutter actually registers a switch to that window, even if you don't release Alt-Tab with this extension.

For example, say you have several Chrome windows and a terminal open. You're inside a specific Chrome window and want to switch to the terminal. You Alt-Tab to it with the "Bring to front" feature active and step over several windows on the way. When you get to the terminal, you release Alt. Then, you want to switch back to the same Chrome window. But now, instead of Alt-Tab taking you directly to it, it takes you to the last window you crossed before switching to the terminal. This makes you have to hunt for the window in the Alt-Tab list, and then do the same thing to switch back to the terminal. This pretty much kills the main benefit of Alt-Tab.

However, with "Selected Window Display" set to "None", quickly Alt-Tabbing does what you'd expect.

Thanks for the great extension!

Better support for multiple workspace

This is just a suggestion. I notice that while holding Alt, I can press Ctrl-Alt-Up/Down to swich workspace with the window switcher on. I'm wondering if it's better visually to show window switchers of the previous and the next workspace together with current window switcher. It'll make it easier to identify apps on other workspaces.

Three window switchers are stacked vertically, the main switcher center at the screen. The other two switchers are made smaller to reduce distraction. Alt-up/down would switch the window switcher to the previous/next one (animation would be great). Alt-down now shows thumbnail of the window, but I don't think that useful because we don't group windows by application any more.
