I'm leaving this comment here to document various performance tests.

All of the method names need to be reorganized and renamed

Add methods or interface to use the statistics gathering methods from the object store

The number of benchmarks is getting out of the hand the way they are currently written. We need to change them to use more recent Go idiomatic benchmarking methods.

Also, need to add more benchmarks for delete and other methods.

Add options to turn index on and off
Add options to limit size of index

Add methods and functions required to use without an index
Try using a slice for the index
Try sharding the map / slice

The comments have become wildly different for the same group of methods. They need to be adjusted.

There is still no documentation, should probably write some.
