docs.rigsofrods.org's Issues

Resolution menu not working properly

Hi. I am asking if anyone knows how to fix a particular problem with the game: while the site (https://docs.rigsofrods.org/gameplay/beginners-guide/) tells me that I should select the video mode and set it to my monitor's native resolution, this does not show up; while my monitor resolution is 1920x1080, the game does not have an option above 800x600.
I do not knnow how to fix this problem, whether it is because I opted for the Windows Installer and not the Itch.io version, or otherwise, but the tiny excuse for the game running in the centre of my screen is not prefferable.
Thanks for reading.

List of Valid User Control Lights Not Found

When viewing the flares section of the truck file format page in the documents (https://docs.rigsofrods.org/vehicle-creation/fileformat-truck/#flares), it says "Valid user defined control numbers are 0-500.", but it doesn't show any sort of list for all of them. I do understand that 1 is CTRL+1, 2 is CTRL+2 and so on, but what about when it's say, 367? Do I just do CTRL+367? I did find a list of commands and common controls, as they are listed and explained pretty well, but when it comes to these flares, it becomes an issue. Please fix, thank you.

RoR Server Not Working

Hi,

I've tried to follow the instructions on the rigs of rods website, but when it connects it gives the following error message.
Couldn't establish connection.

Could someone please help? Thanks.

White text on white background in tables and some more minor issues since switching to a dark theme

I went through all the Docs pages quickly and just made note of a few things that can be improved, I hope this can be of some use and doesn't just come off as me complaining (I would fix these but those would be the ugliest fixes imaginable a:nth-child(1) and would likely break more things )

All tables on all pages. e.g. General controls near the top of the page, white text in a white table
https://docs.rigsofrods.org/gameplay/controls-config/

tables2

Introduction section at top of page, black text on black background:
https://docs.rigsofrods.org/gameplay/beginners-guide/

Some sub-section headings, black on black:
https://docs.rigsofrods.org/gameplay/general-faq/#1-disable-shadows (1, 2, 3 on there)

Pilcrows (the reverse P next to every heading ΒΆ that gives us the link to it) - black on black
https://docs.rigsofrods.org/gameplay/jargon/#player-terms

Yellow warnings and green notes on this page:
https://docs.rigsofrods.org/tools-tutorials/blender-beginner/
BUT warnings on this page https://docs.rigsofrods.org/tools-tutorials/blender-mesh-editing/ are fine. Inconsistent, I think only these ones should be used.

https://docs.rigsofrods.org/tools-tutorials/blender-beginner/ page has a lot of headings with [edit] links that no longer work, and the headings aren't shown in the bar on the right, meaning they're just big text, meaning you cannot link to specific sections.

https://docs.rigsofrods.org/vehicle-creation/fileformat-truck/#hydros
in the options section, the labels that say " [ Version 0.36+ ]" are white text on yellow background and hard to read

Black text on black background

[Info Request] How to contribute to this?

How would I go about properly contributing to the docs? Is there a format/template to follow? Or has that not been established yet? Any advice would be appreciated. :)

not working

i go opening CMake, input the source and build paths: and it dont work

"Liquid Warning(s)" when building site

These warnings happen when you run sudo bundle exec jekyll serve:
virtualbox_2017-11-14_12-02-55
Not a major issue but it's kinda annoying seeing them. I'll attempt to fix them soon.

Page hierarchy

Currently, there are 3 separate hierarchies in place:

  1. Directory structure - 4 directories: "gameplay", "vehicle-creation", "terrain-creation" and "tools-tutorials". These have no technical meaning, the web would work just the same if they were in a single directory.
  2. categories: [] entry in the pages. These are just labels, there's no automated mechanism associated with them. We currently use them to sort links on the homepage, but this is not a requirement.
  3. Homepage sections. Although they correspond to categories: and the directory structure, they're not related. The titles are hardcoded in the homepage's source and categories to display are manually specified there as well.

Problem: The (1.) directory structure shows in page URLs. This means moving page to different (possibly new) category breaks outside links to the docs. We want the flexibility to reorganize pages without breaking outside links.

Solution: wiki-style; we need the URLs to display without any hierarchy in it, like MediaWiki does it. The simple way to do this is to just move all page files (.md) files to the root directory.
