Detect Beta Version. about dayz-launcher HOT 13 CLOSED

I've considered this, especially as I run the beta myself sometimes, however I was not sure how to implement and keep the "just click" ethos of the launcher.

Would just detecting if there is a beta and therefore launching it be a suitable solution? It would mean that the only way to launch without beta would be to delete the beta folder.

That sort of thing would be pretty easy.

Then you get into the issue of do I also add updating the beta automatically?

If somebody has the beta id assume they plan on using it so defaulting to that wouldn't be too bad. Auto updating the beta though might not be the best idea.

Yeah, i think we've reached the same conclusion.

So I will add this:

• If beta folder is found, launch that version always
• Deleting beta folder will run in "normal" mode
• No auto-updating of beta

This means that your regular player won't be affected at all, but those that want the beta can play it.

Made another change and upload.

Thanks for testing, the Steam version is a lot harder because it splits the
installs up, retail dumps the whole lot in one directory

Ok, I've uploaded a version that will display the arguments in a
messagebox. Can you check them? If you're not sure what they should be, can
you screenshot or type out?
