license

would there be a chance to relicense the cc-whatever license to say ofl-1.1 or anything that is considered free by dfsg?

i am trying to get this into debian (main, not contrib/non-free) and got this rejected for:

unfortunately I have to reject the package, as the CC-BY-NC-SA-3.0 license is not DFSG compatible.

question from debian ftp master

thank your for clarification:

Hello,

I notice that upstream has relicensed from CC-BY-NC-SA-3.0 to GPL with
the fonts exception, after a previous REJECT from NEW.

The upstream maintainer does not, however, hold copyright on all of
the fonts -- they are from a number of different authors. So I am not
sure he has the right to relicense the whole package.

Could you ask upstream whether this relicensing was unilateral,
please?

[Suggestion] BDF format for bitmap fonts?

For Linux systems, a good bitmap font format is BDF. Unlike PSF and Windows' FON, it actually supports Unicode and can hold a lot more characters, so it works well in multilingual environments.

I would suggest that the fonts also be exported into the BDF format (if you're using FontForge, then it can do that).

building from source

is there some sources of some of the generated fonts? can they be included in here including the build scripts?
