retropie-docs's Issues

N64 Controller Config Instructions do not work

Not looking for solution here, but neither of the two N64 instructions (N64-Controller.md) seem to work on Rpi4 and Retropie 4.6 using an N64 USB controller. I've tried both config on instructions with both emulators and I can get some buttons working, but never the entire controller . Also, the instrucitons show two buttons mapped to C Down and C Left, which is confusing. I'd love to help get these instructions up to speed, but still have not figured out how to map these properly. I am not sure if there are retroarch configs needed. I need some tech assistance, but can work on doc updates with newer version of Retropie.

For what it's worth, people on forums have had a hard time getting N64 controls for the past few years, and it may be caused by these instructions. Let me know how I can help!

Getting Errors on mkdocs serve

I am trying to fork docs and contribute, but I'm getting errors when running mkdocs serve on this project. I'm new to mkdocs, but looks like I need to install dependencies? Is there a way to get this to auto-install?

$ mkdocs serve
INFO - Building documentation...
ERROR - Config value: 'theme'. Error: Unrecognised theme name: 'material'. The available installed themes are: readthedocs, mkdocs
ERROR - Config value: 'markdown_extensions'. Error: Failed loading extension "mdx_truly_sane_lists".
ERROR - Config value: 'plugins'. Error: The "alternate-link" plugin is not installed

I also tried to install the mkdocs-material project but get an error "Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement markdown>=3.2" when using pip install mkdocs-material.

Any help? I'd love to contribute.

Emulators are not showing after install and reboot 0 games still showing

Hi everyone,
I just bought a raspberry pi 4. Installed retro pie, followed all the instructions. But it still shows 0 games and no emulator seems to want to install. I have tried several times, but nothing seems to be working...
Any idea why? I’m a bit lost...
Thanks for your help :)

Proposed modification "First installation"

Hello to all,
I think you could change the "First Installation" guide.
At this point Here
It is proposed to extract the compressed file but, being that you propose to flash iso with etcher, this step can be skipped because the file .gz (for me retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi2_3.img.gz) is decompressed by etcher itself (tested with version 1.5.108).

Thank you very much for all the work

Missing documentation/config for CEC support

I was bothered by the seeming lack of CEC support for EmulationStation(ES) in RetroPie, as google only gave me a bodgy python script that piggybacked on a keyboard config in ES. By my own blundering I had to reinstall an RPI4 with retropie, thats when I came across this PR. There is no mention of this ES feature in the setup script, nor any explanation on the docs website, apart from an ES changelog.

I have no CPP experience, but it seems that CEC support is only enabled if the ${CEC} environment variable is set to "ON" while making/installing ES? I hope that means it is as simple as setting it in the terminal before starting the Retropie setup script. Does anyone know the recommended way to enable it? I'd be glad to write something up, but I don't even know for sure if CEC even works if I found out how to enable it.

edit: also, the solution with the python script breaks when combined with Kodi, I hope the "official" feature fares better, because there is no indication that Kodi's CEC implementation's intended behaviour should prevent other apps from using CEC, apart from a call to libcec's "destroy" function...

Quasi88 not installable on the pi4

While checking the PC8800 docs.
Info of 2 emulators are shared of both quasi88(stand alone) and lr-quasi88.

To improve the docs I also had to install and check quasi88(stand alone).
But it was not listed, so I could not install.
For the pi4 at least, there is an issue in :
RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/emulators/quasi88.sh
When I change this line :
rp_module_flags="dispmanx !mali !kms"
Into :
rp_module_flags="dispmanx !mali"
Then I can install a working quasi88(stand alone).

I don't know why, but it would be nice if this could be fixed.

Joycon connects but doesn’t work ingame

Despite all the efforts or research I never could get the joycons running. The setup page on the Retropie wiki is only working sofar that the Retropie Menu can be controlled. I can not understand why such a suitable controller (for diy handheld) is not supported.

Online Updater is outdadte as in way to turn it on

Settings >> User Interface >> Show Advanced Settings, then enabling the Online Updater in View >> Show Online Updater.
This has changed, now it's Settings > User Interface > Menu item visibility > Show Online Updater [ON] > back to main menu, (from reddit user s3ktor_13 for say this *by the why thanks for the tip

List formatting breaks when generating the doc site

MD list formatting is inconsistent between Github's MD and the mkdocs using the mdx_truly_sane_lists extension.
This leads to broken lists in the generated mkdocs output, while the list looks fine when previewed on Github (like in #59).
