Start EmulationStation from command

Hello

It is not possible without the complete path to start ES
In all versions before v4 its possible to run from command ES with "emulationstation"

please add a script or shortcut to start fast from command to ES

Changing overscan on OrangePi Zero

When I want to change resolution on my install it is always breaking up my whole system, showing only "A start job is running for Remount Root and Kernel ../no limit"
So I suppose every change in script.bin causes that, but suprisingly when I use tool from yours repo it works, but only for default resolution ( I need less in X dimension so it doesn't help much)

Web Interface is not working in Kodi during playback video

It seems that mpv (or what else used for hardware acceleration) is broke remote web interface (I'm talking about this one).
It works fine in all menus and settings but completely freezes when you starting to play any movie. Shows duration of movie 00:01 and ignores any inputs so I cannot stop playback or turn off OPi.
Also I tested the same on playing music. With music everything works flawless, so the problem only in playing videos...

It was tested on Orange Pi One, if any additional information needed, please add a comment.
Thanks in advance.

RetroOrangePiZero 4.1 NTSC - mpv not using vdpau

Trying to use kodi to play video from the setup, it can only play for 5 minutes until the CPU temperature reaches 76 degree C and the system stops responding. I did a htop from a putty session and I noticed during video playback all 4 CPUs were 100% busy and the mpv threads were using --vo=x11. Shouldn't this be --vo=vdpau? Also in /etc/mpv/mpv.conf, vo is set to vdpau but its been ignored. May be this is reason why the CPU temperature was so high? Is hardware decoding supported in this release? BTW, thanks for the great work here.

I was only using air-cooling with a raspberry pi heat sink on the CPU. Having to use active cooling would defeat the purpose of this SBC.

lr-gpsp emulator crashing in ROP4.2

the gba emulator lr-gpsp doesn't seem to work at all for any GBA ROMS.

on launch we're taken straight back to the emulation station menu

edit: fixed: was missing gba bios

Please add lr-scummvm to ROPI

In the current version of RetroPie there's an experimental package for lr-scummvm (libretro/retroarch version of scummvm). This version is much friendlier to systems without analogue controllers (e.g., Retrostone) than the vanilla scummvm package.

Problems with Translation to Portuguese PTBR 4.2

Hi!

When I try to change language on 4.2 Slim Full to portuguese pt-br, shows me an error and i can't boot anymore. The error is: /opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/emulationstation: error while loading shared libraries: libbost_system.so.1.55.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Support for XBOX controllers

Xbox one controllers, they are rumbing when plugued with USB cable, so enough current, but are not picked up by any drivers.

Cannot exit games

It used to be easy to exit games in 3.0.1 using only select and start, now, when configuring input, it is not recognized anymore. Requires me to restart my orange pi.... everytime.

Update Emulationstation over Retropie-Setup

Hello Guys,

When iam update Emulationstation or install Emulationstation-dev i get a older version from v4.1 and not the actual 4.2
With all old menu entries....

I am not alone with the problem, i make only the issue here
http://orangepi.club/showthread.php?tid=3087

https://github.com/retr0rangepi/EmulationStation/blob/master/es-app/src/guis/GuiMenu.cpp
GuiMenu::GuiMenu(Window* window) : GuiComponent(window), mMenu(window, "ROPi 4.1 MENU"), mVersion(window)

please update the source and fix the problem thx

Not really an issue

Not really an issue, but I was unsure about how to contact the team.
I have read on several place that the nano pi m1 is supported however an can't find any downloadable image.
Is it still WIP or is it available somewhere?
Thank you

Can't install packages due to libpng-dev causing errors

IMG_20190408_192527
I updated both Retrorangepi and the Retropie-setup script... but I still get this message when I try to install dosbox-sdl2, lr-caprice, eduke32... Is this normal? (I updated Mame2003 from source, installed Tyrquake, and some other stuff with no problem, btw).

Struck in Kernel

MY system is stuck in kernel im running latest retrorangepi. it works when connected to usb but not when getting 5v from bench psu.

Retroarch won't launch over retropie menu

Retroarch won't launch over retropie menu

Hello Guys,

I have updated retropie script and then retroarch, now i can´t launch retroarch over retropiemenu
after reflashing the sd card i have make the same stepps and have the self effect...

over emulationstation i can launching games with lr-emulators without problems, only over retropiemenu i cant start it. I see no error only black screen and fallback to retropiemenu

i have test the update with version 1.7.5 and 1.7.6 the same problem
i think is a installation/update script problem

1.) flash sh install ropi 4.2
2.) update retropie script
3.) update armbian system update upgrade
4.) update retroarch

i have tested without update armbian system the same problem

i see no errors, no command.log entrys
looks like the retroarch start script cant launch it without a game

best regards fredy

Do try it out.

option to install/remove

Hello,great work

Is it possible to add to the script option/s to install/remove Quake 2 port / Goonies 20th anniversary etc.?
i know they are pre-installed, just in case to remove them and install them again after.
Thanks

Sound configuration file /etc/asound.conf is wrong

It should be defined as follows (note the missing exclamation signs). I tested it by changing the default from 0 to audio device 3. Now, the sound works outside of emulation station as well. The sound was not being routed to the mixer correctly.

pcm.!default {
type plug
slave.pcm "dmixer"
}

pcm.dmixer {
type dmix
ipc_key 1024
ipc_perm 0666
slave {
pcm "hw:3,0"
period_time 0
period_size 1024
buffer_size 4096
rate 44100
format S32_LE
channels 2
}
bindings {
0 0
1 1
}
}

ctl.dmixer {
type hw
card 3
}

Fix Desktop shortcuts when using USB as storage

I already fix g2d_23 with installing xserver-xorg-video-fbturbo and creating then removing config but i dont know how to fix sunxi_cedar_mod. This modules load by kernel. Maybe need to recompile kernel without this modules?

PSP Menu link is missing

Hello

In ROPI 4.2 is in the gamelist from PSP the PPSSPP-Menu link missing.
I cant start PPSSPP without a game to configure the emulator!

please fix it or make a batch/script to fix this

"+start PPSSPPSDL.sh"

ROPi 4.2 Full and Lite issues - (OPi Zero NTSC version)

ISSUES:
In Current Full Version:

  • Screen resolution is messed, especially for context menus, terminal or input config
  • Input configuration seems to be executed correctly (besides screen resolution messed), but controllers doesn't work within games
  • "ROPi Update" doesn't work at all (through Retropie > Retrorange Pi > Update Retrorange Pi)

In Current Lite Version:

  • "ROPi Update" doesn't work at all (through Retropie > Retrorange Pi > Update Retrorange Pi)

Suggested Improvements:

  • OPi Zero have USB ports facing the same side of charger and video output and some other cheap boards doesn't have more than 1 USB port. I tried (unsuccessfully) many ways to simple split USB ports (using 'Y' data/charger cable) to use more than one controller but it haven't worked. I think would be perfect to allow it if its not a hardware limitation.

Kodi stops to work after install kodi-pvr-iptvsimple via CLI/SSH

If you try to install the simple-pvr-client from repo using apt install kodi-pvr-iptvsimple it will suggest you to "upgrade" kodi to the repo version.

But after this installation done, you can't access kodi anymore returning the message: ERROR: Unable to create GUI. Exiting

How to use repo version of kodi?
If isn't possible, have a way to compile kodi and the addons directly from kodi repo??

Compatibility

I have an orangepi lite, it is compatible with retroOrangePi?

OrangePi Zero Plus 2 H5 not working

I have an issue with OrangePi Zero Plus 2 H5. I cant install RetrOrange. There is no any H5 images. H3 only. Can you help me to install manually RetrOrange with Kodi only on Zero Plus 2 H5 on latest Armbian 5.38? No needed Libretro and OpenELEC. RetrPie and KODI only. Thank you

Reicast Date&Time fix on Start

Hello,

When you start reicast you will always come to the Date&Time screen, every start you must entry the date&time.

to fix this bug for the coming OPI version follow the instruction

Developer-Fix

retrorangepi
1.) connect via ftp to ROPI
2.) open "/configs/dreamcast/data" and delete "dc_nvmem.bin"
3.) restart emulationstation
4.) now start reicast without time and date screen
Now is fixed the bug

User-Fix

to fix the time and date in BIOS follow this instruction
nullDC
1.) load nullDC emulator (search in google)
2.) copy your dc bios-files in /data folder of nullDC
3.) start emulator and start with nodisk
4.) set time and date
5.) close emulator
6.) make a copy of dc_nvmem.bin from data folder
7.) rename dc_nvmem.bin to dc_flash.bin
8.) copy the renamed dc_flash.bin to retropie BIOS folder /dc and replace it

The Developer-Fix ist to add the ROPI and the User-Fix is a instruction for the users

Check my .sh script

DC_bugfix_datetime.zip

Tried installing to eMMC, fails to boot

Latest 4.1
OrangePi plus 2E
Run ROPI 4.1, chose to install into emmc, it showd progress to 100%, asked to remove sd card
and reboot.
I reboot and now it does not boot at all from emms. Complains that emmc0 or something not found etc (scrolling too fast)
Boots ok from sd card.

Add MPV to upcoming slim images so they support video splashscreen

When I try to change the splashscreen in a existing Retropie image, the player can not show the video.
I checked the script /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary/splashscreen.sh

And at line 240, tries to execute "mpv", but by default, is not installed. You can install
#sudo apt-get install mpv

If the following message appears, you can just send the command:
#sudo apt-get install -f

pi@retropie:/home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens# sudo apt-get install mpv
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 libsdl2-dbg : Depends: libsdl2-2.0-0 (= 2.0.5+5mali) but 2.0.6+1mali is to be installed
 mpv : Depends: libavdevice55 (>= 6:11~beta1) but it is not going to be installed
	   Depends: libavfilter5 (>= 6:11~beta1) but it is not going to be installed
	   Depends: libegl1-mesa (>= 7.8.1) but it is not going to be installed or
				libegl1-x11
	   Depends: libguess1 but it is not going to be installed
	   Depends: libva-glx1 (>= 1.0.3) but it is not going to be installed
	   Depends: libva-x11-1 (>= 1.0.3) but it is not going to be installed
	   Depends: libwayland-egl1-mesa (>= 10.0.2) but it is not going to be installed or
				libwayland-egl1
 ppsspp-odroid : Depends: libsnappy1 but it is not going to be installed
				 Depends: libzip2 (>= 0.10) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

And try again:
#sudo apt-get install mpv

After the install, is possible to execute the video.

Now you can just restart your system and the splashscreen with video will work fine :-)

This for suggestion on A Project!! I want to ask if i should modify anything or add something. Most listed parts are still in queue to be bought??

I Am doing a Project .

Components are as follows:

Orange pi PC
4000mah li ion
Class 10 card x 2
3.7v to 5v 1 A and 2A powerbank Main Board {for charging and output}
64gb USB

Softwares need to be run:

Retrorange pi
Android

It will most likely be in a custom 3d printed case.

For heat Removal, OPi will be placed flipped so its ram and processor will be facing down.A copper heating will be attached.

I am trying to place it in a flipflop shape {like Nintendo 3Ds} and Ports at the back {hdmi usb etc}

For screen i will use 5 inch waveshare screen.but gpio headers or mounts will be cut off or desoldered to reduce bulk.

They only purpose of this is retro and some what android gaming.!!PORTABLE!!

SDL2 configuration?

I tried testing the current Amiberry, and it fails to open a screen on startup.

Specifically, we are thrown back to the console with this error:
Unable to create window Could not get EGL display which comes from SDL2 while trying to open the GUI window.

What configuration flags are you using for SDL2?
Is there a KMSDRM video back-end available for the platform?

WiFi Not working on Banana Pi M2+ Zero

Wifi isn't working on the Banana Pi M2 Zero with the RetrOrangePi 4.2 SLIM Image.
Setting the wifi manually in /etc/network/interfaces using the below does not work. Making it impossible to install things such as GPIO controls.

source /etc/network/interfaces.d/*
    allow-hotplug wlan0
    auto wlan0
    iface wlan0 inet dhcp
    wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

Image for Orange Pi Zero on the website missing

Hello;

I can't find the image for the Orange Pi Zero. It says "coming soon" for the 4.1 but it does not allow me to download the 3.0.1 version anymore.

I don't want to wait for the "coming soon" if it's going to take weeks, I want to start running 3.0.1. Any mirror where I can download it?

Thank you.

add lr-reicast to ROPI

Hello Guys

I have successful make a libretro-reicast core for OrangePI PC
lr-reicast can play NAOMI, Atomiswave and Dreamcast Games!

  1. clone
    "https://github.com/libretro/reicast-emulator"
  2. make with follow instructions
    platform=classic_armv7_a7 ARCH=arm make -j3
  3. after make i have use from "retropie-setup" the lr-reicast commands to integrate in retroarch
    https://github.com/retr0rangepi/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/scriptmodules/libretrocores/lr-reicast.sh

The Emulator run and start games, use the retroarch controller settings

The problem is the GPU-Accalaration dont work, looks like software rendering or the driver is not compatible
I do not know what settings to use for other emulators to create maybe I forgot something

It would be great if you could integrate the emulator in ROPI
maybe you will find the mistake

the platform"classic_armv7_a7" is maked for NES/SNES Classic mini console
this console use like orangepi a Allwinner SoC with Cortex-A7 Quad-Core, 256MB DDR3 and Mali 400MP2 @500mhz

look@ youtube on SNES-Classic run the emulator very smooth
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mAfhwrdiiQ

Unfortunately I am not well enough to find the mistake myself

best regards fredy

Reicast SystemManager.cgi is missing

Hello,

The SystemManager.cgi to start the DC-Menu to format VMU and check Savegames is missing on Retrorangepi 4.2

to fix the error i have write a .sh script, look at attachment

or use follow command
sudo ln -sv fileThatDoesNotExist ~/RetroPie/roms/dreamcast/systemManager.cdi

to activate the manager it is necessary to have a game in the dreamcast folder!

if you have another solution it is fine but please fix it

DC_Activate-Systemmanager.zip

Posible Bug with video splash in RetroOrangePi 4.1 for Pi PC

Hi.
I have found a fault in your images for OPI PC.
The images of the version 4.1 for the OPI PC do not allow to use videos like splash.
The mp4 video that comes by default (or any video) does not go. It only plays the audio.

I have tried with 2 different SD.
I have tested with 2 different OPI PCs.
I have tested the image of the USA server and the European server.

Just installed the image, loads retro orange pi, go to menu of options, open retropie-setup.
Configuration Tools -> 831 Splashcreen.
Splashscreen enabled.
Randomizer disabled.
Choose Splashscreen -> own / extra -> splash-720-only.mp4
back, back, reboot ...

When you restart, you only hear the splashscreen audio, there is no video.

Thanks.

I was considering to update from jessie to stretch changing the distro word on /etc/apt/sources.list, but I don't know if that will work.

Any idea on how to solve this?
