dashcoop-support's Issues

Can't figure out how to access settings

Just bought Dashcoop but I can't figure out how to change any settings. When I launch the channel none of the buttons on my remote do anything, and I see nothing in Settings related to Dashcoop.

forecast differs between devices

If i am correct, the roku app uses darksky. After verifying the roku is online, i cross referenced the roku app vs the darksky website and ios app with the roku app. I found the roku app to differ about 10 degrees F with both the website and ios app for the same location. The darksky website and iOs app are consistent with each other, while the roku app gives different info.

edit: tried a reboot of the roku, and it did not solve the problem

Roku model: Ultra. 4660X

App is requiring a second purchase.

There seems to be a bug in Roku’s device software as I am able to reproduce the issue myself.

Roku was able to reproduce the bug and is currently taking a look. No available ETA.

Please do not uninstall the application. Hopefully Roku will be able to resolve this for us.

My Roku device’s software version is: 10.5.0 build 4198-51.

Always-on additional information

Dashcoop is exactly what I was looking for in a weather screensaver. Thank you so much for doing this!

Too bad channel discovery on Roku is so lame, you could really make some money with this if you get it up enough on the Screensaver channel list. Maybe a more explicit name would help too.

About the issue, I like that you included humidity, precipitation, wind and other info. Do you think you could add an option to keep all that info displayed at all times instead of cycling through them? Maybe in a single row under the current temperature and condition.

I love the fade in/out effect, but when hurrying up to go somewhere, I noticed that I'd like to have that info at a glance before getting out of the house.

Dashcoop & Weather Providers.

Currently, Dashcoop uses WeatherAPI (weatherapi.com/) as the current weather provider. It provides a reasonable service that balances costs for me so I can continue to provide weather for the application. Since Dashcoop on Roku is a one-time purchase, I find it reasonable to find a compromise.

Dashcoop does not perform any data manipulation or further calculations on the data once received from WeatherAPI; Dashcoop essentially acts as a middle-man to get the data to the TV.

I will be, however, be open to investigate other weather providers like NOAA. This provider will be free (as far as I know), but it would mean that weather can only be scoped to the United States.

static not moving?

I selected "Animate Screen" = "Enabled", but it doesn't seem like the display moves, it seems static (other than the time changing).

As such it doesn't seem like a safe "Screensaver" and I'm concerned about burn in on my new OLED.

I see that I can chose option to Dim the screen, but that's not what I want. Please help, this looks like a wonderful app!

Edit: Ooops, sorry, I just saw it jump positions what looks like enough distance. How often does the position shift, please?

Temperature really off

I am unsure which provider dashcoop receives weather information from but it is way off. I understand different providers can vary with what the current temperature is. However, I noticed today that it was a full 20 degrees Fahrenheit off.

I really want to like this screensaver but with the weather and even the current temperature being so incorrect, it is hard to enjoy it.

Dashcoop - Migrating Weather Provider

Hello,

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Dashcoop screensaver. I am
assuming you are contacting me regarding the lack of weather.

Yahoo Weather API l, that is used to provide the weather, is closing
access to its services.

I am immediately looking into service replacements.

Thank you for your patience.
