my_ha_setup's Introduction

Welcome to my GitHub. I focus mainly on my Home Assistant Journey and all the things I do to mess it up

My Github Stats

I am a retired FF Paramedic of 15 years. I have an addiction....home automation. I like anything and everything to do with making my house smarter. Join my in my fails and successes. My home automation journey started with an Echo Plus I got for Christmas 4 years ago. Then I kept reading about how the cloud was bad and you should us only self hosted devices. Well then Youtube lead me Dr Zzs and he talked about Home Assistant. My Home Assitant journey started and I fell hard down the rabbit hole. Now I run Home Assistant Supervised in a Proxmox VM with multiple HA backups and instances for testing.

This Github Repo will present my findings and prodjects. If you want to join me, help me, or just look in now and them feel free. I have had so much help along the way and am willing to give back as much as I can.

my_ha_setup's Issues

Zigbee Thermostat not working

Moved to ZigbeetoMqtt. Centralite Pearl thermostat was working after the move. Now is unavailable. Tried to repair it but still won't communicate with HA.

Physical switches not working with Tasmota

All of my light switches flashed with Tasmota randomly have the relay stop working. You can use Home Assistant and the Tasmota web UI to toggle the switch. But when you got to the physical switch it will not engage the relay and change the state of the switch. I can go to the web UI and do SetOption73 1 and then SetOption73 0 and the relay is recoupled. The switch goes back to working like normal. But after a period of time. The problem reoccurs. I have posted this on multiple Facebook and other forums. No one can say why this occurs but they have had this happen before also.

Node Red in HA fires Alexa TTS at random intervals

I use Alexa media player for a lot of my automations. One of them is to alert my wife and I when it is time for my daughters medication. She has to have it everyday at 0730 and at 1930. I created a node red flow that send us an alert over the house echos to remind us to give her the medication. That portion works well. But I also have it send it to our cell phones in case we are away from home. The problem is it fires at random times of the day. The on over the Alexas work correctly but the cell phone message fires at random times.

I tried it with yaml and it works fine. The reason I moved it to node red was for advanced conditions and location. I don't know if it's related or not but every time I restart HA it only fires that TTS.
