Dear @rahiel,
Another related question to my first question.
For me personally the Downloads directory is a temporary directory in which I store files usually only until I use them for something.
Archived bookmarks, however, have a permanent meaning.
Thus I would like to store them outside the Downloads directory.
Is it technically possible to store files somewhere outside the Downloads directory?
Thankfully,
~Robert
Dear @rahiel,
Just a quick question:
Is it possible to archive a web app locally (i.e. access offline) that has some interactive functionality?
Example: http://wikitable.eu5.org/
I would love to take this editor with me while being offline!
Thankfully,
~Robert
An internal extension page where users can:
Currently any but a short archive URL widens the menu and all its buttons:
I suggest replace each archive URL by a standard-width button labelled with the archive service name, placed under a new section heading "Archives". Failing which, retain the regular width and position of the existing buttons.
From review: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/archiveror/reviews/880812/
memory leak when delete bookmarks
I have to give a bad rate. When delete bookmarks its make firefox unresponsible and memory rise up to GBs.
Hey, I just published a fast mhtml parser that converts the mhtml files saved by Chrome to html and allows serving them.
Would love feedback and to know if it's relevant to you https://www.npmjs.com/package/fast-mhtml
Dear @rahiel,
This is by far one of the most amazing extensions.
Thank you so much!
My question is how I can access my bookmarks while being offline?
I made sure that archiving mode is set to Local, automatically archive bookmarks is checked and file access is given to local URLs.
Thankfully,
~Robert
When a page that isn't yet on archive.is gets auto-archived, the wrong link is captured and saved. The URL https://archive.is/submit/
is saved now.
Option to save pages on disk. For bookmarks the file structure should mirror the bookmark structure.
Would it be possible to add an option to append the date or date time to the file name automatically?
filename-2017-10-14
filename-2017-10-14_20-42-00
The chromium version should also copy the archive link to the clipboard for pages that are manually archived online.
Right now the default format for the MHTML file is:
New Issue · rahiel_archiveror_2018-06-05_19-59.mhtml
would you consider making it this?
New Issue · rahiel_archiveror_2018-06@05_19-59.mhtml
or create a setting for preferred date tail?
like maybe this?
I assume I can just edit the javascript?
Thanks!
Automatically save changes on the options page. The "Save" button is a bad user experience as it can be overlooked (#14).
Hello
I recently installed Archiveror in firefox for android.
Its UI works good but it don't do its work and don't archive when i bookmark a webpage.
I don't know if i mistakenly installed addon and may be it is not compatible with android but May you please add android compatibility to it?
That will be great.
Thanks
Probably the most noticeable issue I have with archiveror is that the it generates need me to click on the keep button.
This seems like an issue with Chrome, but are there any workarounds or easier ways of clearing the warning other than a mouse click? A hotkey would be nice.
I was wondering before installing. Is there an option for this? What is the default?
Archiving does not work URL with multiple parameters with archive.is, for example, https://books.google.com/books?id=yi0xvGuzVC0C&pg=PA42
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/archiveror/reviews/805647/
https://github.com/rahiel/archiveror says
The filenames end with the UTC date and time of when the archive was made.
but I'm seeing something else after the time e.g. "_fc03fa96"

I've enabled "Automatically archive bookmarks" but it don't work ?
Also I have a request I'd really like to be able to move the "Archived URLs" from "Other bookmarks" in another place so it would not clutter my "Bookmarks bar" making visible the "Other bookmarks" shortcut to show up.
The "Other bookmarks" don't show up when it is empty and since you place the "Archived URLs" inside the "Other bookmarks" it show up on the "bookmarks bar" taking valuable space.
So being able to put/move "Archived URLs" another place will be very useful for Chromium users.

Dear @rahiel,
When is it best to use which?
Why do I need two buttons for the same thing?
By default both buttons "Archive Now!" and "archive.is" do save the current page on archive.is
What I expected:
Only "Archive Now!" saves the page in a defined online archive.
And the buttons below don't save, but only search in one of the defined online archives.
Currently you can only choose one archiving site. It would be cool if you could select more than one option, and if you click the button to archive, it would open as many tabs as needed to archive the page.
In a way, this would make it easier to have multiple copies of a page, which further reduces the chance of link rot. :)
Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to extend the options menu so that Archiveror both:
.. When the extension's button is clicked.
Using latest Chrome, About 50% of the time, a click of the "Archive Now" button fails. Does nothing at all. A second click succeeds 95% of the time.
Currently Archive Now! switches to a new, archiving tab. Please add an option to keep the current tab.
That appears to be the current behavior. If that is intended, I would like to request an option to prevent the deletion of local files.
Thank you,
Tiggy626
Is there a tool or a process that will archive a list of urls with a single click or that is scriptable.
My use case for this is a private wiki I run on my computer. I'd like to periodically copy static copies of the pages so I can browse them with Dropbox on iOS.
Right now I can right click on a webpage to access the context menu options. But not on links.
It would be great if I can right click on a link to archive it through this extension.
This is a bug in Firefox: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1220463.
Dear @rahiel,
Just a quick question to enhance my understanding. Do the following chrome:flags make the use of Archiveror obsolete?
Thankfully,
~Robert
If a user bookmarks multiple pages at the same time with addresses like:
https://forum.com/threads/name/#post-000
https://forum.com/threads/name/#post-001
https://forum.com/threads/name/#post-002
They all get the same name and overwrite themselves.
Reproduced on Chromium 59.
I really like the function named automatically archive bookmarks!
But do you think it is better if only archive certain bookmarks or folder?
Videos could be saved with the help of youtube-dl.
If you have "Ask where to save each file before downloading" enabled in the settings, then you will have to give Chromium a location each time archiveror will try to locally save your bookmarks.
This is a bug in Chromium: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=417112. Please star the issue if you'd like to see this fixed.
Workaround: disable "Ask where to save each file before downloading" in settings. (Click on "Show advanced settings..." at the bottom, the option is at the "Downloads" section.)
Dear @rahiel,
Suggestion:
In the options, I set to archive to all three available archiving services.
However, on clicking the button manually, it only opens one new tab to archive on archive.is
.
Why doesn't it open two more tabs to also back up on archive.org
and Webcitation
?
Please show existing archives of the current page regardless of how it was archived.
Currently Archiveror shows existing archives of a current page only if those archives have been created by "Automatically archive bookmarks" and on the current installation.
It doesn't show archives creates automatically by a different installation. It doesn't show archives created manually.
When I installed Archiveror (Automatically archive bookmarks checkmarked by default), it didn't archive my existing bookmarks as I expected. It did archive the first bookmark I added.
I then saw "Archiving of bookmarks happens when you make a new bookmark and when you open an old bookmark." https://github.com/rahiel/archiveror . I suggest 'Automatically archive bookmarks' be either changed to automatically archive existing bookmarks, failing which the UI receive a note warning that it does not automatically archive existing bookmarks.
Workaround: click this on each bookmark folder:
I've used Archive.is to archive a webpage and it archived fine. Then several days later I've visited the archive link and the page won't display. I then changed the archived URL to archive.ph and the page displayed. Could you please add an option to archive with archive.ph or allow us to change which archive.is URL is used for the button. Thanks
New option
I just started using this plugin. According to the doc, I can get an MHTML file for each page. However, the only thing I get from the Download folder is a txt file with a UUID being its name.
It's content is like:

Snapshot-Content-Location: https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s?__biz=MzA5NTMxOTczOA==&mid=207716205&idx=1&sn=1a7185fa3b44cf108f6e4eba4c864f64&mpshare=1&scene=1&srcid=0717jJX66Xetu51pV68PJKEh&key=b10a7c153a57fbb96f7676f25b6a41643b08bb561c8c8fbe4a5ee377c21c3a32c93a25532574b37fa3c3c89ec8fdb7ceb85a21d2331371e85e7f00638ce8317bacc583f0d62211a10173aa1432a0c121&ascene=0&uin=NjAxNzIxOTAw&devicetype=iMac+MacBookPro11%2C2+OSX+OSX+10.12.5+build(16F73)&version=12020810&nettype=WIFI&fontScale=100&pass_ticket=nWuXt8BnVKBP%2BMfvZqfLW9JPTvCLshyf0wfFVZi3qHlbI2aBE%2FVhmR0c0uz2LQHE

I'm using Chrome 73.0.3683.86 on Mac.
First of all, thanks for having created this great extension.
As stated in the title it would be a great QoL addition to be able to archive sites when clicking the Toolbar Icon. Personally, a simple check box in the options to switch between both functionalities would be good enough for me.
I have found this after most recent update to the Firefox extension.

Expected Result:
Without a fix for this I can no longer use Archiveror as I only want to archive to the Internet Archive.
When the MHTML archiving option is checked, on bookmarking a site and pressing save for the MHTML file save dialog, chromium version 70.0.3538.77 crashes with a segmentation fault.
The MHTML file save dialog appears. But when you press save, chromium crashes.

Since Firefox Quantum releases, there is no add-on can do this, it would be awesome if you can bring this feature to Firefox.
Assuming I want to archive 100 pages locally as MHTML, is there a way to do this in a programmable way? Can I call the Chrome plugin to do this automatically OR clone this project and do some thricks?
