Hi,
I have been using chibe on an LG G4 running LOS 16 and I'm loving it.
However now that I'm using a 1+ 7TPro with LOS17.1 it doesn't work anymore. I have allowed background running, disabled 'battery optimization' for this app, but it still doesn't work. No vibration, except when I 'click' on 'test pattern'.
Any hint ?
It would be nice if chibe had an option to detect the device's Do Not Disturb status for silencing itself. This has the advantage that it can follow my schedule even if I don't sleep at exactly the time I have set, since I can set DND before I go to sleep (and even automatically disable it when my alarm goes off).
As suggested to me in an email, this may be useful for people who don't have their phone in their pocket and don't mind noise.
Hi there
I've tried Chibe (latest version from F-Droid) on my Sony Xperia S running stock android (4.1.2), it stops working after turning off the screen, making it kinda useless. When I turn on the screen again/unlock the device, it vibrates using the pattern I chose before on settings, no matter what time it is.
Power saving options ("extended standby") are turned off.
The duration of the long note is much longer than the short note, and in all honesty feels a bit too long for me. A half-note between short and long vibrations would make a world of difference for me.
This also would allow for more "composing"more complicated and thus more recognisable buzzes! :)
hey,
really neat app. I was wondering if it would be possible to add another feature to remind of passing time in specific situations with custom startpoints i.e. during meetings.
what do you think?
Please, would you like consider le kabyle localization with the next release?
It seems at first that it will not happen frequently, but it does that the vibration activate while I have the phone in my ear, and it is quite annoying. Can it detect that I'm in a call (that may be a whatsapp call) and not chime (or postpone that 2 minutes)?
I normally switch my phone to airplane mode when I'm off to bed and have pretty irregular sleep times. So in addition to the fixed times, an option to depend activity on airplane mode would be great for me.
In addition, many ppl use airplane mode to save battery, not having the phone vibrate could be helpful as well.
(Also related to #7 and #8, but maybe simpler for user and developer respectively)
If you walk around with your phone it will Chibe even during sleep times. It sould not Chibe if you only look at the time and lay it down afterwards.
When opening the app for the first time, some of the text in the introduction screens is hidden by the bottom bar.
When I perform these sequences of events, the time picker on screen changes state
Sequence 1:
Sequence 2:
I'm not sure why Chibe is chiming at 6 minutes after the hour (eg. 9:06, 10:06, etc), instead of on the hour. My phone's time is correct. How can I change the time of the hour? Thanks!
So most bells here work like this: you have two tones. One for hours one fore quarter hours.
In between hours only the quarter bells make sound.
e.G:
Low bell long vibration and high bell short vibration maybe?
What do you think?
Almost every option has a summary, even though most of them are self-explanatory. For example, an option with the title "Test base vibration pattern" obviously "Lets my device vibrate in the base vibration pattern now", explaining this in detail does not offer any new information to the user. As a user (especially the first time I installed the app), I had to spend some time to read a kind of redundant summary: I had already understood the functionality of the option from the title alone, but the fact that there even was a summary made me think that the option was more complicated than it seemed (which it wasn't), making me re-read something I had already understood.
I was also thinking that the "Repeat a special vibration pattern for the hours" option could be simplified. The title is so long that it doesn't fit on my screen (5", portrait), and the description, while on point, is too a bit long for an option description.
Not that these points are bad, I'm just sharing my opinion on how the UX could be improved a bit ๐
I could also try making a PR when I have some time (if you agree)?
There currently is no way to introduce pauses in the buzzing melody. Would be nice if we could!
As mentioned by @kertase in #1. This would allow users to have more fine grained control over the vibration.
A challenge with this is, that right now Chibe infers pause times based on the surrounding vibrations, so that would need to be changed. Furthermore I'm not sure what symbol should represent pause, might be unclear.
I think it would be great if the vibrations changed based on the time. For example:
At 2, it would vibrate: ..._ _
At 3, it would vibrate: ... _ _ _
At 4: ... _ _ _ _
Similar to an old grandfather clock.
Could this be an option?
Currently the pauses between vibrations are not equal. It 'feels' natural with patterns like _ . . _ but with my custom pattern .._ it feels a bit weird. Dunno, can understand if you don't want to change the default, would be nice if you could consider an extra option :)
On my Sony Xperia Z5 compact (720p) one row of text gets cut off in the tutorial and the tutorial button (with the question mark) obstructs the last menu line.
Our church gives different melodies at the full hour than at the quarter of an hour. It would be nice to similarly be able to have have one pattern at the full hour (+ time vibration) and another one for another interval (that the user can pick as current).
When I perform these sequences of events, the fragment disappears after on-screen rotation:
Before rotation:
The expected behavior is the return to the previous state with the fragments of the previous image.
However, the fragment disappears.
Device:
I like the app but it keeps stopping, like it would ring once then wont ring until i open the app
My device is HUAWEI p9 lite running android 7.0, and i've disabled battery optimizations for the app
Enabling dark mode causes the app settings screen to flicker and and become unresponsive.
Workaround: App settings must be cleared to fix the problem, and then don't use dark mode.
