Dicom Containers

This is a collection of containers for getting started and working with dicom and pydicom tools.

Getting Started is a Docker container build that will include the Dicom Toolkit (dcmtk) along with pydicom and pynetdicom3. The Singularity container in this folder is the same, but to genereate a Singularity container. See the getting-started README for instructions.

pydicom-docs is a Docker container for building the docs for the pydicom codebase without needing to install dependencies. See the README for instructions.

The version of the containers corresponds with dcmtk. Versions for pydicom and pynetdicom (when applicable) are listed in the table below.

instructions don't work

The instructions at https://github.com/pydicom/dicom-containers/blob/master/getting-started/README.md do not work.

(1) They refer to commands that are no longer valid in Singularity, such as singularity create.

(2) Even if I try singularity build dcm.img Singularity, the build fails with:

Package libpng12-dev is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'libpng12-dev' has no installation candidate
FATAL:   post proc: exit status 100
FATAL:   While performing build: while running engine: exit status 255

Include dcm2niix?

It might be nice if

apt-get install -y dcm2niix

were added; I realize this is sort of out of scope, but it's an extremely common tool to want to run with storescp --exec-on-eostudy, so it would be useful to have inside the container

3.6.4 is no longer available at that URL -- only 3.6.5 is.
