Usage

  • Generate key for mongo keyFile auth between nodes 
    openssl rand -base64 756 > configs/mongodb-keyfile
chmod 400 configs/mongodb-keyfile
  • run the docker-compose command to start the mongodb containers 
    docker compose up -d
  • execute rs-initiate.sh to initiate the replica set 
    docker exec -it mongo1 /scripts/rs-init.sh
  • The WebUI should be available at 8081 port

error on mongodb 7

when you try to run using mongodb 7 , the rs-initiate will throw an error for authentication .

one way is to change this line on rs-init.sh

mongosh <<EOF //// REST OF FILE /////

to

mongosh --username $MONGO_INITDB_ROOT_USERNAME --password $MONGO_INITDB_ROOT_PASSWORD --authenticationDatabase admin <<EOF /// REST OF FILE ///
