count and one are different things. count is the global count of an action (it's the number of things since the counter/spiral/whatever was reset), one is the per minute count and is probably what you want for a spiral.

Counters just have count set and that will increment until you reset them. I've used spirals for most of my metrics.

Ok thank you for this explanation, I guess I was confused by the name (maybe QPS or RPS would be better, I don't know) and the fact that they're separate records/sends, but that makes sense now that I think more about it.
