ptn-roam-depot's Introduction

phonetonote helps you capture your thoughts on the go.

how does it work?

after installing and configuring your account, you'll be able to

  • send text messages to a private number that will sync to your roam graph
  • send messages to the ptn telegram and facebook bots that will sync to your roam graph
  • configure zapier integrations to post messages into roam

usage

after installing the plugin, a link to your ptn dashboard will appear in your roam nav.

your phonetonote account will be created with the same email you tied to your roam account.

from your dashboard, you can configure your account, and add your phone number.

you can access the dashboard outside of roam by logging into https://dashboard.phonetonote.com/ with your roam email. we do not use any passwords. you will be sent a verification code to your email when logging in.

fetching new notes

new notes will be pulled into your graph automatically when you open or refresh roam, and every 90 seconds after.

you can trigger a manual sync by clicking the Daily Notes link in the roam nav.

ptn-roam-depot's Issues

Add as Todo

I'm not seeing a way to add new messages as a TODO by default. That would be a useful feature instead of trying to type brackets and braces on a phone. My use case I'm using speech to text on a smart watch so it's nearly impossible without manually switching back to the keyboard and digging through to find the characters..

Work with voice memos

I've loved this app and have used it a lot to avoid the latency of the roam android app.
I started recording voice memos but sadly they appear in Roam as empty bullets?

Link to ptn dashboard not showing in Roam

In Roam, phonetonote is not listed in my menu, even though I have "show link to ptn dashboard in left nav" set to on.

In addition, the chrometonote is not working. The extension information shows:
Inspect views: service worker (Inactive)

nest under existing block?

I have a page template that includes a block that I'd like to nest phonetonote notes under, but phonetonote creates a new block instead.

Obviously you can have multiple of the "same" block on a page, but I could see implementing this with a limitation that the notes always end up under the first available block of that "name".

info in the instructions misleading around default hashtags

Roam Depot config page states

if you want #hashtag at the end of each phonetoroam note, put what you want that hashtag to be here. if you do not want a hashtag, make this blank.

but in reality leaving it blank means they get a #ptn hashtag. That's totally fine, but it seems like the instructions should call it out.
