dotconfig's Introduction

Hi 👋 I'm the Systems Librarian at California College of the Arts Libraries. As such, I maintain and develop a number of library and learning technologies, including a Koha ILS, Summon discovery layer, LibGuides, openEQUELLA repository, Panopto video platform, Moodle LMS, Wagtail website, and several smaller applications. I publish much of my code under CCA's GitHub organization.

I enjoy using and contributing to open source software. Some of my favorite work involves data munging, data visualization, metadata wrangling, full-stack web development, and integrating disparate systems using APIs. My favorite programming languages are Python and JavaScript.

I'm an active member of the Code4Lib community and tend to volunteer at every annual conference. If you see me, say hi! Meeting new folks is always welcome.

time machine exclusions

Find a way to export a good default list of exclusions (the command sudo mdfind "com_apple_backup_excludeItem = 'com.apple.backupd'" will print all excluded paths but a fair number of these are excluded by default so it would be redundant to manually exclude them, see this SE answer for details) and then apply them in osx.sh with tmutil addexclusion ${path}.

Not sure if Time Machine will let you exclude directories that don't yet exist, e.g. it's nice to exclude directories for package or venv managers like pyenv or n but those might not exist at the time we apply the exclusions.
