Is simple PDF annotation (freehand drawing, text, boxes/circles) a future 
possibility for this app?
That + the nook touch would be the perfect setup for poor college students!!!

When reading a two pages japanese comic book， the reading order is from right 
to the left。

So I hope you can add another  walking order in  page layout option ， such as 
  B，D，A，C 

Some scientific articles come as two-column pdfs.

To read them more conveniently one could set zoom factor so that one column 
fits the device screen.
But then page the traversal mode should be changed from letf-to-right then 
top-to-bottom to top-to-bottom then left-to-right.

After having looked through the code I suppose this can be done by simply 
adding a separate menu option to change page traversal direction (without 
changing page layout).

limited to just dot (short tap) or dash (long tap) in tap zone.

If you could add recognition of more tap combinations user can select 
additional functionality inline as they are reading without breaking thought 
process by having to find functionality via menus.

Suggest current 2 combinations ("dot" and "dash") be extended to four 
(”dot”,”dash”,”dot dot”,”dot dash”)

Of course you could extend the dash is two types of dash - dash1(1sec press) 
being different from dash3 (3sec press)

On what operating system? Google nexus7 32GB TABLET using latest Orion viewer.

It would extend the existing tap zones use without having to add more tap zones 
as per my other feature request.

I do prioritise this feature higher than "more tap zones" but less priority 
than "tap zone overlay"

Feature request: page ranges from manual cropping.

Right now it is possible to set up different manual cropping for even and 
uneven pages.

The actual pdf's however often are more complex than that. It would be good to 
have an option to define manual cropping parameters for several page ranges.

For example:
1. Book manual cropping: (even) + (uneven) pages
2. Range 1: (p 52-62):  (even 1) + (uneven 1) pages
3. ...
4. Range N: (p 152-162):  (even N) + (uneven N) pages

Since such complex settings should be easily checked and changed at will, it is 
important there would be a separate screen where all these range might be 
viewed and changed if necessary.

This feature does not cancel the need for autocropping.

The page orientation (portrait or landscape) should be remembered for each pdf 
file instead of setting the value globally, since certain pdf files are more 
appropriate for portrait while others work better in landscape mode.

 check the new default options ,all the options display in the eink screen, not in 2screen,can not change any of them.

I have a suggestion. I think It is a good idea to add the remain time to finish 
a book in down part of the page (similar to new kindle). I think it will be 
great hit in ebook reader applications and many of users welcome new update 
because there is not any application that has this features. It can show the 
remain time to finish a chapter or all of the book.I think it is good idea to 
add a strip in down part or up part of the page which contain information about 
the number of page, local time and remaining time in full screen mode.

Introduce the autocropping feature in addition to manual cropping.

This is merely to put the feature request into list. The feature is in the 
plans as far as I can judge from various discussions, just not listed here.

I'm interested in word (or phrase) selection for translation.
The current text selection implementation requires drawing a rectangle, 
capturing the word of interest. Unfortunately, it is not very precise. It is 
difficult to select one word only (or may be a phrase), providing a "semi-word" 
(either truncated, or having extra symbols). This requires manual correction of 
the captured word.
It would be great to have the ability to select the text itself (either a word 
or phrase) for example by double tapping a word. A good example of text 
selection implementation can be found in the CoolReader3.

P.S.: orion_viewer_0.39.2_android

On the PRS-T1, when I press the hardware page turn button, the screen quickly 
displays the rest of the current page, then immediately jumps to the next page. 

I suspect this may be a compatibility issue with App-dependent left/right 
button mapping hack:

though I have not defined any specific buttons for Orion. 

An option to display pages continuously, like in EbookDroid. 

Presently, when the page is longer than the e-ink screen, you press the page 
forward button and Orion displays only the rest of the current page but does 
not display the beginning of the next page. 

An option for displaying pages continuously instead of page-by-page would be a 
more efficient use of screen space.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I had installed Aarad dictionary on my rooted classic nook
2. I had launched Orion viewer and selected some document in Pdf format
3. I had enabled Aarad dictionary under Options/Dictionaries and returned back 
to navigational home screen (default one with the navigation options are 
available) of Orion viewer 
4. I flipped some pages on the document and tried to launch the dictionary icon 
(eye shaped one on the home screen), but nothing happened.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

It should have launched the Aarad dictionary window so that the required 
meaning can be searched.

The latest version of rooted 1.5 on Nook classic and Orion-viewer 25.7 (latest)

I had tested Aarad dictionary (stand alone, not with the orion viewer) and 
working fine.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.The tap zones feature is excellent
2.Unfortunately each user has an extended learning curve because user doesnt 
have quick reminder of what tap zones are set up.
3.Especially a problem when user uses another PDF viewer only to come back to 
Orion.


Proposed solution
1. Keep existing tap zones configuration screen as is under settings
2. Add quick menu option at main menu level, "Toggle Tap zones overlay"
3. Pressing "Toggle" will quickly overlay on current pdf page a copy og the 
tapzones boxes with tasks associated in feint colour.

Feint allows pdf to still be read.

IMPORTANT: With visual box reminder of tap zones you are not limited as a 
developer to just having a 3x3 matrix, you can go finer granularity across 
whole PDF page OR even just in on existing segment.

if implement smaller tap zones you can implement swipe and pinch commands for 
more dynamic zooming (count how many zones finger passes through before 
residing it isn't a long touch but a transverse movement)

When configuring tap zones, the grid display does not accurately reflect the 
options chosen for the bottom left corner and the bottom right corner. I chose 
"Open dictionary" for the bottom left corner, and it continues to show "Prev 
page" even though the dictionary does indeed open when I tap here. For the 
bottom right corner, not only does the function chosen not always display 
properly, but it seems to be inversed with the zone immediately above it (the 
top area of the bottom-right square). For instance, to open the dictionary by 
tapping the bottom right corner, you must set this function for the zone 
immediately above it (top bottom-right). 

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.open djvu file with embedded bookmarks (contents)
2.choose view contents from menu
3.viewer hangs for 3-5 secs and crashes
4.I used BookmarkTool from windjview.sourceforge.com to prepare djvu with 
embedded contents. Windjvu opens this file ok.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I want to see contents :)

Various devices have different options for standby (sleep) mode. The prs-t1 in 
particular is not very flexible. It does not allow the user to disable standby, 
nor does it allow the user to set a custom timeout delay. Also, it requires the 
use of a "screen saver" or a blank screen, whereas some users would prefer to 
keep the current page during standby.

I was wondering how difficult it would be to add a setting in Orion to control 
standby:
- Disable/enable standby
- Set custom timeout delay
- Set standby screen (current page, book cover, blank screen, or custom image).

I have noticed that EbookDroid has an option to disable standby, so I know this 
at least is possible.

This may seem like a minor issue, but it is very annoying when the reader goes 
into standby mode when you're studying a page.

The "Open recent" option doesn't work if Orion is already resident in memory. 
If you leave Orion by hitting the Home button and then return to Orion, you are 
presented with the file-manager instead of the recent book.

Отображается страница, которая была до 
тапа на иконку Ориона (т.е. проблема issue 1 
починена), на аппаратные и программные 
кнопки листания реакции нет, при нажатии на 
другие программные кнопки Орион падает, 
как и раньше.
Как было раньше.

При долгом тапе по кнопкам листания 
появляется ползунок выбора страницы, но 
при выходе из него система выдает окошко с 
сообщением "Произошла неожиданная 
остановка приложения" и кнопкой "Закрыть 
принудительно".
Такое же сообщение о неожиданной остановке 
приложения - по тапу на кнопки 
масштабирования, "Параметры навигации", 
поворота и обрезания полей.
При тапе на крестик программа выходит.
При тапе на кнопку вызова словаря ничего не 
происходит.
При тапе на кнопки настроек программы или 
помощи появляются, соответственно, экраны 
настройки и помощи.

Кроме того, под программными кнопками 
листания не отображается номер страницы.

Книга в формате DjVu, отсканированная.
То же самое с книгой в формате PDF, не 
сканированной.
При этом не видно никакого способа вызвать 
в программе диалог открытия новой книги, 
приходится открывать через файловый 
менеджер.

Right now toolbar for selected text is too small and non-intuitive. I suggest 
to make buttons larger, add captions or even replace it with usual textual 
menu. Moreover, it would be very nice to have an option to copy the text to 
clipboard.

The position of the zoom slider should be 100% by default, and there should be 
a numerical input-box for typing a precise value.

What is the expected output? 

More tap zones required to access more functionality in reading pane without 
need to dropping out to access via menus.

What do you see instead?

Have used up all tap zones so limited to reconfiguring tap zones (dropping one 
function assigned to zone with another).

Is time consuming and inhibits personal productivity as one re-learns what new 
functionality is assigned to tap zone.

when i try to change page layout on pdf and djvu (no matter which combination) 
nothing seems to happen.

Versions i tried: 
orion_viewer_0.27.4_android 
and 
orion_viewer_0.29.3_android

tried on:
Android 2.2.1 (Sony PRS T1)
and 
Android 2.3.7 (Samsung Galaxy Ace, Cyanogenmod 7.2)

tried also on a htc desire s on which it worked quite brilliant.

It would be very handy, if a switch between day and night mode would also 
switch the display brightness. So there should be two separate brightness 
settings (for day and night mode) in the settings menu.

The page, displayed currently on the E-ink screen (after p.4 above), changes to 
that, which was displayed, when orion-viewer was brought backgound (to that 
which was during p. 2 above, not p. 4)

Highscreen Alex with the latest firmware (Androind 1.6, downloaded from the 
official site http://www.highscreen.org/files/7-firmware/23-highscreenalex), no 
root.

The "Go to" dialog should have an numerical input box where the user can 
directly type the page number.

I am using Orion viewer on my Rooted Nook Touch to read pdf files.
I find it to be the best Eink pdf reader.

However, for some files when landscape option is used, it can only rotate the 
page by 90 degrees.
I do use a Nook flip cover to protect the reader from impacts, and with the 
lanscape option, text get oriented towards the open flip cover. 
This causes problem in holding the Nook while reading. 
An option to rotate the text on the opposite side, i.e., rotation by 270 
degrees will solve the problem.

После перезагрузки все настройки, включая 
кадрирование, номер страницы, параметры

Is there anyway to implement full-text search in a pdf / djvu document?

I do not need the program to highlight any search result, but at least I wish 
the reader could quickly "goto" the page containing the first match -- so that 
I don't need to manually scroll through a 500 page document.

3. open the same pdf file again

It is more like feature than an issue.
If I open the same pdf file then the reader should open it back from the same 
state which it doesn't do. It specifically bad for E-ink readers as this apps 
is geared for that.

  Thanking you for making such a great program. Finally, a program with intuitive "navigation pattern". It's the best and most useful feature of a pdf reader. I'm wondering why others don't have the feature.

  One thing missing is the pinch zoon feature. What we have now is the zoom dialogue by which we can't see the zooming results in real time. We have to zoom many times to get it right. If we have pinch zoom feature, we can get the right zooming ratio by just 1 gesture. And cropping won't be necessary. 

  By the way, the crop dialogue has the same problem with zoom dialogue: 
you can't see the results in real time. What about auto-cropping if pinch 
zooming is not easy to implement?

I set up fullscreen toggle action on the center tap-zone in every reader 
program I use and find it very convenient.

1. Orion - 0.39.1; Aard - 1.4.1
2. Select word in orion and open dictionary
3. Selected word is not passed to Aard.

Some code analysis:
Orion starts intent using : action = Intent.ACTION_MAIN;

10" Edge Entourage

Problems with 2-Screen 10" Edge Entourage
E-ink-side buttons are disabled. 
LCD side zoom and E-ink side zoom are not the same on 10" Edge Entourage

If you rotate the text 270 degrees to read in landscape mode then open the 
dictionary while reading, the dictionary appears in portrait mode. This is 
because Orion seems to lack a proper landscape mode. Screen rotation is a nice 
feature (please don't change it), but Orion should also have an option for 
switching Android to landscape for users who wish to interact with other 
Android apps without swiveling the screen. 

Please add "Fit width" / "Fit height" / "Fit page" / "Zoom back (previous 
zoom)" as a tap zones.

It would be also easier if in the zoom dialog the "Fit width/height/page" 
options are available as one-touch selection, not as a drop-down list.

The page zoom/margins crop could be updated while the values are being changed 
in the dialog, not only after the dialog is closed. 

Another suggestion is to close dialogs ("cancel" them) by clicking in the area 
outside of the dialog, instead on a small "back" button.
