guidelines's Issues

Feedback from @liktherm

@liktherm provided valuable feedback

There exist MS guidelines that go somewhat against your suggestions for variable declarations. Namely, AFAIR (too lazy to search):
var a = new A(); is recommended when it’s clear than a has type A.
A a = new AAA();is recommended when it’s not clear than a has type A.

On long variable names. I share Peter Norvig’s viewpoint on those (had a class with him as an instructor): the more local is the variable the shorter is the name, and vice versa.

Tabs vs. spaces: spaces out of necessity (so, agree with you).
2 or 4 or 3 – actually, depends on the language, IDE etc.

I like ID and your hybrid way.

I prefer quotes, but use both (quotes first).

(((x + 1) * 2)/5 + (12 * (54/2))) // perfect

( ( (x +1) *2 )/5 + ( 12 * (54/2) ) ) // looks awful

Defaults and ternary op, but not switch.
