Hello All,
First off, thank you very much for your patience. Secondly, great news, the NOSHIPPING feature has been implemented as a part of the new Payment Experience APIs. An example of this, specific to the Node SDK, can be found here.

This is currently something that is preventing me from using the REST API at the moment... This question was addressed on Stackoverflow in March and I guess one of the developers said: "Not yet" essentially.

prannamalai avatar prannamalai commented on August 15, 2024

@grydstedt, At this moment the API doesn't have a "NOSHIPPING" option similar to the classic APIs.

bump- can we get a NOSHIPPING option for the REST API

Are there any plans for adding this?

coen-hyde avatar coen-hyde commented on August 15, 2024

Well, this sucks. I just implemented the rest API to find this option didn't exist. I think this is an important option to support.

I realize that this is a limitation of the REST API in general and not specifically the JSON implementation, but it's really frustrating to spend half a day setting up and implementing the REST API, only to find that it lacks a ton of basic PayPal functionality (for me, both personal payment/donate and no-shipping options). Here's hoping against hope, but for now, I will have to switch over to the Classic API...

I opened this ticket almost a year ago. since there was absolutely no response I ended going back and writing a node wrapper for the old PayPal API. I really wish I didn't have to use Paypal at all, it's truly stuck in 90s; but customers demand it, can't do much. It's sad that a company of this size, with crazy amount of resources and money can't get something this simple right. Hopefully the acquisition of Braintree will shake things up.

The fact is the new rest API is a wrapper over brain tree API. Having used brain tree earlier it seems that it's a desperate attempt by paypal engineering to please the execs and press.

Can't believe... and no real explanation? Just leave us here without a response. I will just not use paypal. (puke)

All,
First off, I want to say thank you very much for your feedback and please do know that your voices are absolutely being heard. The good news for this feature is that I can assure you that it's coming in a future release (possibly Q3/Q4). The bad news is that I can't give you any exact ETAs. In an effort to be open, honest, and direct, I will tell you that our engineering teams are working closely together to solve multiple dependencies so that we can provide successful releases of this (and other) features. Please know that we do very much appreciate your patience with us while we bring our RESTful APIs to parity with the Classic APIs.

+1 ... seriously, this is actually ridiculous! Glad it's definitely coming, though (any day now, right? :), but why would you strongly suggest people use the new API and deprecate the old one before it's actually a proper replacement?
