This program creates population estimates at the county level by age group for the country of Mexico. The counties match those in the mortality database.

First download the excel files from the sinais website and place them in the colmex directory. Then run the file pop-estimates.r. You'll get the estimates in the clean-data directory

• pop, popmen, popwomen - Total population by sex and age group according to the Colmex Conapao
• pop-census, popmale-census, popfemale-census - Total population by sex and age group taking into account the 2010 census
• pop-estimates - Total population without age groups
