cosmic-cruise's Issues

iOS: App crashes when leaving the app

It seems harmless and starts at the home screen when returning to the app, but it's being logged as a crash on iTunes Connect. Perhaps the app should just close when leaving it?

Move solar system around ship, not ship around solar system

I'm running into "z fighting" issues. Once the ship passes Jupiter, the ship gets super shaky. I'm told this is due to number rounding (or accuracy) issues that occur with the camera when it is further away from the center point of the scene. I read that I should move the system around ship, not ship around system.

The math adjustments required to do this make my brain explode today, so I'll create a issue to remind to revisit this soon. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Making this work will also allow the solar system to be scaled larger to address planet sprite movement issues when leaving a planet.

Scale app to best fit Google Cardboard specs, regardless how big the phone is

When viewing this app in larger screens e.g. iPhone 6 Plus and large Android "phablets", the app will still extend 100% and cause double vision when viewing via a Google Cardboard viewer. Scaling the app down and having it "rest" at the bottom-center of the screen at optimal size on large screens... is optimal!

Work will need to be done to take into account screen size, dpi, etc. to make this possible.

Todo: Add Narration and visuals for each planet

Note to self and others: I have much raw audio from the Space Foundation team, covering every planet and Pluto. I'll get the edited versions pushed as soon as possible. Accompanying images that show on the screen are also being added ahead of final narration edits. The script that times images to audio will be recycled from another project soon to help support this effort.

Todo: Navigate to specific point of interest when approaching a planet

Note to self and others who may be interested in contributing:

I'm hoping to add a local point of interest vector to each planet, positioning the ship in a "sweet spot" before telling the story of the planet. Otherwise, sometimes you'll arrive at the dark side of the planet and don't see much of interest.
